Yes, however it’s usually a little more expensive to get the same coverage, as the employer pays a part of employee’s insurance costs.
Forfeit? No, they’ll still need insurance (you get a fine if you’re without insurance for more than 3 out of 12 months (at least, I think that was the case)).
This is the first time I’ve heard about being fined for not having insurance.
Tv etc has led me to believe if you don’t have insurance you just hope and pray you don’t need to go to a&e. What about homeless people, for example? Is there something in place that issues fines to all the people who don’t have insurance at all? I’m so confused.
My partner and I pay $200 for the ~$1800/mo healthcare plan through their employer. There was a fully-covered option but the deductibles are so low on this plan it’s incredible.
I left Spotify for similar reasons. I chose Tidal because comparatively more is paid to artists (still tiny amounts per play). Just like switching from anything (Reddit to Lemmy, PC to Mac, Coke to Pepsi, underwear to commando, iPhone to Android), there are differences to get used to but it’s not too bad. They do have curated playlists by editors, radio station based on your taste, “rising” track by genre etc. I think they have a free tier if you live in the US. but unfortunatley not yet available outwith.
I have a free pandora account which is curateable (is that a word?) and there’s a setting for “deep tracks”. I’ve got some wild combinations just for fun, one being Billie Eilish and Michael Jackson. Then you discover new stuff too! Ads are minimal too.

edit: Also, if you only want to see what you’re subscribed to in your timeline, you can click on “Subscribed” where you see “Subscribed Local All” at the top of your timeline. Subscribed will show you communities you’re subscribed to on all instances. Local will show posts from all communities only on your local instance, and All will show posts from all communities from all instances (at least, all instances that your local instance is federated with.)

Rest assured, it was :-)

My ADD is on full swing because I’ve been on Lemmy for the past month and never noticed that button until you mentioned it (although in my defense, it seems sometimes that button shows up as plain text, not clickable - apparently another UI bug). I finally blocked some silly communities that tended to show up on the “All” listing.

Probably something to do with that bug of very old posts showing up at random on the “Hot” sorting.
YouTube music has the best algorithm for radios in my opinion. But my account is almost 20 years old so it has a lot to work with.
It also has a lot of rare music that will never exist on other platforms e.g. old myspace bands that were mostly lost with the myspace database disaster. The original files and copyright are likely lost, so it’ll never show up anywhere else.
I’ve heard good things about Tidal, it integrates with Plex which is why people in my circles like it, but overall from what I hear good quality, they pay artists fairly, and no ads
I do actually have a cookbook that contains a load of recipes. And I’m 99% sure it’s in there. It’s one that I really want to try, but, money has been quite tight and I wanted to buy something so I’ve saved for that. It’s definitely in my list for when I can afford it.
Steak is like my favourite meat. And I don’t mind friend chicken, not my favourite. But I do believe it has potential. Thank you for the link, and I’ll compare them both.
