ema_sideproject, in "Connect" for Lemmy app - anyone tried it yet?
@ema_sideproject@lemmy.ml avatar

It has a nice interface, modern. But it lack optimization and it looks like it scrolls at 30hz on my 90hz phone, kinda hurts my eyes

bec, in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?
@bec@lemmy.ml avatar

I’m just glad I’m here to witness this lol

Anyways, wouldn’t a liquid meal replacement do the trick? Something like Huel?

unhearing,

Doesn't huel have lots of fibers that will be excreted?

bec,
@bec@lemmy.ml avatar

Just checked and it says it has 7g fiber per serving. Don’t know if it’s too much, honestly. Jusy thought that since it’s liquid it would be making less waste!

Kinga,

Huel is quite infamous for having lots of fiber and causing absolute monster shits before you get used to it. Like it really makes you go every few hours on top of the shits being just extra nasty

bec, (edited )
@bec@lemmy.ml avatar

Didn’t know lol as I said I assumed that a liquid diet would help, guess I was very wrong lol

edit: maybe there are other similar meal replacements that have not as much fiber? If that’s the only downside. I suggested Huel because I don’t know of any other

Truth is, I challenged OP to this poopless challenge and I was trying to undermine their effort, but don’t snitch on me

Its over, Lemmy is big enough to be its own thing now. This post proves it...

The ability to study, understand and use fantasy level magic.

skillissuer,

you are still bound by laws of physics

TONKAHANAH,
@TONKAHANAH@lemmy.world avatar

magic is just physics we dont understand yet.. think this could still work

skillissuer,

if you want to lift something by telekinesis, you'd be just as tired, if not more, than if you used your hands. if you want to set something on fire by thought alone, you need to provide that initial energy somehow (like starting fire with bow drill). you'll be drained just as much as after physical work

AdrianTheFrog,
@AdrianTheFrog@lemmy.world avatar

No, if you were just worried about energy, you would be much less tired than by doing things manually. For example, moving a heavy object downhill would gain you energy, not lose it, and keeping a heavy object in the air would neither gain nor lose energy. it would only be lifting that is hard, and it would still be easier than lifting manually.

Edit: and according to Wikipedia, human muscles only have an efficiency of around 20%, so doing basically anything through magic would be 5x easier than doing it by hand.

skillissuer,

let's keep conservation of energy, conservation of momentum, conservation of angular momentum and conservation of mass. who said telekinesis is 100% efficient? also let's make it so that the bigger distance from user, the less efficient it gets

nostalgia_for_infinity,

This would be a fair limit. You would be limited by certain conservation laws, but as long as you would provide an adequate energy source (say, like Flash, you had to eat a lot more food) it could still be useful.

AdrianTheFrog,
@AdrianTheFrog@lemmy.world avatar

Obeying all of the laws of physics, magic wouldn't work at all. Assuming you were able to break a few but kept some such as conservation of energy, it would be very powerful, ex: teleportation does not break conservation of energy as long as you teleport to the same height you left from. If you were able to extract energy from your surroundings, you could probably do basically anything you want. You could lower the sun's heat by a degree and be able to move a mountain.

Proceeds to then write a detailed timeline of the events that will occur. Either this is a joke or someone needs to be talked too by an adult and explained how the human body works.

Hey OP! Food In == Food Out

There’s no way around it.

sussy_gussy,

You can hold it in for a while and if you eat less food but with more energy per volume, you can eat less -> poop less and still get enough energy.

smstnitc, in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?

Define "illegal". Like, marijuana is legal for recreational use in my state. I'm looking forward to some edibles when I get home, hahah

ComeScoglio,

That doesn't stop you from pooping though. Oh no... I'm too new to Lemmy for this to be one of my first comments...

McrRed, in What’s something kind someone has done for you that you revisit?

That time I had sex. Yes. Definitely that

PlutoniumAcid, in How should I be using Lemmy?

Now what might really cook your noodle is the info that the developers of the Lemmy software are pro-Russian genocide deniers, and there's a growing sentiment to not support that by dropping Lemmy in favor of kbin or something else.

Here's the best sourced info I found on the genocide topic: https://kbin.social/m/lemmyworld@lemmy.world/t/47012/-/comment/196579

Just as I was starting to get the hang of this, it feels like I stepped into another wasp nest.

Ookay, then let's look at kbin, right? Well, there's literally only ONE developer and the current version still very much a (good) beta version. So, not kbin either, then?

What's left? Beehaw, who act like snowflakes and have disconnected from where growth and interesting stuff is happening?

I feel pretty lost in the sea of the fediverse right now. Go back to Reddit? Naw, not right either.

Golfindriel,

This is the first time I hear about the Lenny developers being pro-Russian. Do you have any source where we can look into it?

Willie,

Well, you can always put one foot on each side. Make an account on both, use both a bit.

kbin has a better interface, in my opinion though, I'm cheering for them!

slybird,

Mostly just wanted to make my first comment

I haven't signed up for Lemmy. Between the Lemmy and Kbin I like this Kbin a heck of lot more and decided to sign up here.

I haven't abandoned Reddit and I have no plans on doing so. I'll probably be on both platforms if this one takes off or until Reddit becomes something like a Myspace. For now I'm just exploring here.

@Crabhands@lemmy.ml avatar

Ok i avoided replying to this for long enough. Based on your requirements, I’m making the following recommendations:

  • Nutrient-rich meal replacement bars: These bars are designed to provide a balanced mix of macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein, and fat) and essential vitamins and minerals. They are often fortified to meet nutritional needs, making them a convenient and space-saving option. However, they should not be relied upon as the sole source of nutrition for an extended period of time.
  • Dried fruits and nuts: Dried fruits are a concentrated source of natural sugars, fiber, and some essential nutrients. They provide energy and can help satisfy hunger. Nuts, on the other hand, are a good source of healthy fats, protein, and fiber. They offer satiety and provide a range of beneficial nutrients.
  • Jerky: Jerky, typically made from lean meats, is a good source of protein and can provide energy. It is compact, lightweight, and doesn’t require refrigeration. Be mindful of the sodium content.
  • Meal replacement shakes: These shakes are formulated to provide a balance of macronutrients and essential micronutrients. They often contain protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, and a blend of vitamins and minerals. They are easy to consume and require minimal preparation.
  • Energy gels: Energy gels are designed to provide quick energy in the form of simple carbohydrates. They are often used by athletes during intense physical activities. While they offer a rapid energy boost, they do not provide substantial nutrients beyond carbohydrates.

Glad you got an actual reply, but your post is unexpectedly funny at first read. This is definitely going in the Lemmy hall of fame whether you like it or not - congrats!

ComeScoglio,

Some dried fruits are notoriously good for helping bowel movement, though, just be aware.

flint5436,

Aren't some dried fruit laxative? Ate a bag of dates once, and boy did I have to run to the shitter.

Fizz, in Does anyone else feel extremely annoyed when things are even slightly imperfect?
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Nah I am very aware of how complex these programs can be so I'm happy when it works and understanding when it doesn't.

Fondots, in How do I reach the right people here on Lemmy?

There's a "new communities" community that you can try posting to (I'd provide a link, but I'm still kind of figuring things out myself)

Other than that, biggest thing is probably just to keep up with it, if you build it they will come. Make sure you're keeping on top of whatever moderation tasks need to be done, no one wants to join a community that's overrun with spammy bullshit or has a crappy vibe. Create content, people also don't want to join a community where no one is posting (but don't get spammy about it yourself, personally I think it's a bit of a turn-off if I see it's all just the moderator posting himself day in and day out) engage with your members, upvoted, comment, ask questions, offer answers, be the kind of member you want to attract.

Be patient, things are growing but Lemmy doesn't have reddit numbers yet, we're all learning, things are changing fast, but building good communities will take time.

And of course, promote yourself like you're doing here (again without getting spammy) if you see people talking about bass, work it into the conversation. Lurk the music/musician subs, make the occasional shameless self promotion post.

Maybe trick a few fishermen like me into joining who thought it was about the other kind of bass.

theatremaker, in What is something good happening in your city/town/local area?

They’re adding accessibility to some of the subway stations that are big junction points. When it’s complete, it’ll make it just a bit easier for everyone to use the public transit network downtown, and make certain commutes that were extremely inconvenient a bit more accessible. Hope they keep doing this!

MaggiWuerze, in has anyone tried out lemmynade as a lemmy app?

Looks great, but it apparently strictly requires the new lemmy version, as my home instance shows no posts in liftoff. Will keep it for now and try it again when my instance updates
