Um the first part of 2 and the 2nd part of 2 are two very different things. I know lots of people who pass the language test to get into college but make a lot of grammatical errors. Also basically require spellcheck/chatgpt to write a basic email. Also even my roommate makes grammatical errors in conversation and she has to do her job in her second language. You seem bilingual to me, seems kind of silly you seem to think you need to spent a year in England or something to be considered bilingual.
I don’t know I am kinda boring sometimes I will rewatch the same shows over and over I do that with movies too. Be honest I don’t have the time to do all the things I want.
On Supernatural remember show aired for 15 years been fan since day one and been off the air for 3 years. So plenty of time to rewatch my favorite episodes.
On WestWorld it was a great show and season 1 is awesome.
Justified is just great and on The Boys I rewatch right before a new season aired. Same way it started with WestWorld I mean each season was 2 years apart. Then when I am in the mood I will rewatch it. I seen season 3 and 4 twice but thats it.
If you saw the amount of books I read you probably be flabbergasted.
One thing I don’t have enough time for is my writing ( I literally have 3 novels I need to finish editing and one need to finish writing.
Also playing video games. I still have not finished Dead Island 2 and just got the new Zelda game but haven’t finished the first one for the Switch.
And now writing all of this reminds me that I need to focus on my editing instead of being here on Lemmy.
Oh and how can I forget that I am building an Rv Park on top of my day job. I don’t know how I can get anything done.
This is wrong? Taking 20°C as an example. Following this formula gives 48°F when it should be 68. Could you perhaps be supposed to add 32 instead of 12?
The Lemmy software is intended to be somewhat censorship resistant, but that does not mean that lemmy.ml is a “free speech platform”.
Like most instances, lemmy.ml has rules (they’re in the sidebar on the front page) and we regularly delete posts and comments which violate them.
That instance you’re talking about is intended to be a “free speech platform”, which in modern internet parlance is a synonym for “nazi bar”. One of the two admins of that instance says explicitly: “racism, bigotry, sexism is allowed".
Most Lemmy users aren’t into racism, bigotry, sexism, and the other things people there are into, so, most Lemmy instances have defederated them.
So essentially it’s highly censored to defederate them. Not only you can’t view them using a different instance and post, but registering there, you can only interact with their instance. Lemmy needs a better method. I was thinking about this the other day, why is something as simple as blocking content on the users end or blocking x type of content not an option, even on registration. Even if there’s hate speech mixed in, freedom of speech should exist, but freedom to not hear it, should also exist. Essentially shadow banning, but done by choice of those who don’t want to hear said content.
Racism, bigotry, and sexism, exist in everyone. Maybe there’s just better ways to express it, or not to. But it’s cultural, people want to be with their culture, their people. When you force people to ‘accept’ everyone, they lose their Identity.
I really don’t think Lemmy will survive as everyone will be afraid of getting cancelled and defederated.
For me personally, when you reach a level where you can think, and communicate in the non-native language (without doing mental translations back and forth) with enough ease and speed, no mater the topic at hand (meaning that even if you don’t know a technical or specific word you can make yourself understood), and even if you make grammatical mistakes or have an accent, the point of the conversation is not lost between participants, then you can consider yourself fluent enough on said language.
My native tongue is Spanish (could you tell if I didn’t mention it?), but I have consumed so much content throughout (and yes I did check how to spell throughout) my life only in English and practiced enough doing conversations both writing and speaking (even with an accent) on the internet that I can communicate with ease and be understood.
I have visited the United States a handful of times for around a month for vacations with family, so I can say that I had to communicate with native people outside the internet now, but I haven’t had any formal education except a few very basic English courses in high school.
By now I think in either, but not always the one I mean to speak in. So sometimes I’m looking for words in my native language and I only have the English one in mind.
Definitely factorio, but I can’t tell you how many hours. I started playing on steam, but then downloaded it from factorio.com and had multiple installs so I could play different mod packs. Steam says 1100 hours, but it’s got to be 3 or 4 times that, total. I’ve played multiple saves that took several hundred hours
I’m sure there’s quite a few traditional board games that have online or app version, like risk for example. Iirc there’s also Scrabble, scythe, Catan, and I’m sure others. I can’t speak to the quality of the apps but I would recommend just searching for any games you’d be interested in playing and seeing if there’s a version on the app store.
Docker’s honestly really easy to use, is there anything specifically challenging you about it? I’d be happy to explain how any of it works or how to use its features.
