Galaxyboy_3598, in Liftoff. Lemmy app. Do you like the way it works now?

Truthfully, it was my least favorite of all of the Lemmy apps. I didn’t like it’s user interface. Was it recently updated?

Shortbus,
@Shortbus@lemmy.world avatar

I tried liftoff a few hours ago and same. Didn’t mind jerboa, but connect just clicked with me… I think because the flow is extremely similar to boost.

I couldn’t shake the same feeling I get when using discord when using liftoff. Just no.

To each their own. That’s why there are options.

Which one do you prefer?

Galaxyboy_3598,

I dabbled with Jerboa, Thunder, Liftoff, Connect, and wefwef.

I like Jerboa the most.

RampageDon,

Jerboa and Connect have been my two favorite

ahto,

Same. It looks and feels like “my first flutter app”. I switched to Thunder, which is also made with flutter, but is much more pleasant to use.

philpo, in What are the reasons modern password managers require a cloud database?

Maybe because it’s convenient for most users and a unique selling point against KeePass

3l3s3,

KeePass can sync no problem. Either right in the app like KeePass2android via WebDAV or just plain old file in a synced folder.

AlternateRoute, (edited )

WebDAV is a very old and very technical protocol to setup. The average user just wants to get the app and have it work everywhere.

I did run keypass for many years but the janky sync (it is better now) was one of the driving forces for me to change.

These days group password sharing among my family is a key feature (Netflix,Disney+) which is another feature found in some of the newer passwords managers.

pH3ra, in What's a quote that has stuck with you for your whole life?
@pH3ra@lemmy.ml avatar

The life of a punctual man is a hell of undeserved loneliness

I read this in a book when I was 15 and I’ve never been on time since

dudebro,

“If you’re early you’re on time

If you’re on time you’re late

If you’re late you need to RUN”

My science teacher told us this in high school. Really stuck with me.

Marketsupreme,

Well by implication if you’re on time you need to run.

Mattador0808,

And if your early, youre late by extension. Just run everywhere, I guess

hahattpro, in What are the reasons modern password managers require a cloud database?

So you can sync between workstation, mobile, laptop, etc …

And they can bill you monthly or yearly

zzz711, in What's your favorite restaurant chain?

Chipotle

TheDubz87,

The chipotle/Qdoba near me has gone way too downhill in the past few years for me. The burritos used to be huge, now they’re the size of a small potato. Also 50% of the time they mess up my order and I don’t realize until I get home and open it up.

JoumanaKayrouz,
@JoumanaKayrouz@lemmy.world avatar

They suck now. Tiny ass burrito for like $12 and it takes forever. The service is always piss poor and they never get the order right.

Splosion, in What movie did you rewatch most often?

Twister The Thing Clueless Lost In Translation Jurassic Park The Edge You’ve Got Mail The Trip Galaxy Quest Scott Pilgrim The Truman Show 28 Days A Fish Called Wanda True Lies Sphere any Alien movie Practical Magic Amelie Best In Show The Shining Gone Girl Kiki’s Delivery Service The Ninth Gate Sideways Cold Comfort Farm Napoleon Dynamite Starship Troopers Contagion The Mummy Die Hard With A Vengeance Entrapment Midnight In Paris The Fifth Element Zoolander

They’re not all “good” movies, but something keeps me coming back.

Afghaniscran,

I was a stoner teen, napoleon dynamite was hilarious so I watched it so many times.

state_electrician,

Is Contagion that one, where Matt Damon has the disease but lives? I watched some disease movie last year and that’s the only thing I remember. Also shout out for Ninth Gate. Rarely see that one mentioned. Overall we have a very similar taste.

guleblanc, in What do you use Vaseline for?

Lubricating the cork in a saxophone neck or a clarinet tenon. It turned out to be not a good idea at all, since the Vaseline speaks into the cork and dissolves the glue holding the cork to the instrument. But until then it does a great job.

tiredofsametab,

speaks into the cork

Soon, Cork could no longer ignore those dark whispers, those awful voices. Cork knew what needed to be done, and that only they could do it.

VerdantSporeSeasoning,

Cork let go. Cork was… Free.

And then came an explosion of sound.

As someone from Switzerland, I have to say that american chees fits very well with a garbage bag. Feels like it’s natural habitat.

Roundcat, in What's the benefit of using Kbin over Lemmy?
@Roundcat@kbin.social avatar

I was introduced to kbin first, and after giving both kbin and lemmy a shot, I decided on kbin as my primary. I prefer the layout mostly. Yes I know you can customize lemmy to get it to a similar look and feel, but kbin feels great straight out the box. The Mastodon integration is interesting, and its nice to keep up with what's going on there at the same time on one site. Also as federation users, we are encouraged to join smaller instances to lighten the load of ml and world, and kbin seems to be a good compromise of joining a smaller instance that isn't too empty. Also, with the recent hacks happening with the bigger lemmy instances, I feel like I made the right call sticking around here.
