TechieDamien, in What password manager do you recommend?

pass would meet your requirements. It is a super simple implementation of a password manager levying PGP for encryption and git for syncing. You can therefore use any git server for syncing. There are browser extensions for autofill etc and scripts to import/export passwords etc.

blameitonjorge, nexpo, night mind I've found work great as they talk in a very mellow manner. As long as you're ok falling asleep to the type of stuff they talk about lol

Pitri, in What's the hottest and coldest temperature you've ever been in?
@Pitri@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

German here.

hottest: 42°C in summer 2003. there have probably been warmer days by now, but I’m not aware of any.

coldest: -14°C in winter 2009/2010, while waiting for an absolute asshole of a bus driver to stop reading his news paper and finally open the door to let us in. I get that you want to enjoy your break in silence, but ffs. Leaving us waiting in such cold temperatures for around 10 minutes was just inhumane.

SecretPancake, in What password manager do you recommend?

Been using 1Password since 2010. I tried Bitwarden a few years ago just because of the price. In theory it ticks all boxes but it was a pain to use. I does not flow like 1P, some things did not work the way I expected and it looks like shit. Don’t ask for details because I forgot. So I switched back. The new design of 1Password made it a little worse but it’s still great and the integration into iOS and macOS is amazing.

1Password has some nice features (like it reads QR codes off the page and automatically handles 2FA for you, which is clever, but not necessarily the "2" in "2FA" you were hoping for) but it also has a lot of weird UI decisions that make it confusing to use, especially in a shared company environment.

It is a lot better than it was before though, now it's cross-platform (it used to be exclusively AppleSuperiorityComplexWare), but it's still not open source.

Poeticbiscuit, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

I do light workouts at home, and it’s honestly a hassle, but I enjoy the benefits of it (especially walking just to take my mind off of things). So I kinda just suck it up lol. I’m still working towards making it a habit (if not already), so what I do is also watch videos during sessions.

I find that being active along with having a balanced diet makes me feel energized throughout the day, and also make me sleep better at night.

I also look forward to cheat days. I work hard and in return, reward myself with something good. Whenever I find myself feeling lazy, I try my best to push through with it. Feels kinda bad to skip tbh so I try to make it up the following day.

angstylittlecatboy, in what was your first video game/system you played or remember playing?

PS1, but I don’t have a definitive answer for which game.

Nerorero, in I'm being harassed by mosquitoes, how do i kill them all?
@Nerorero@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Garlic, lots of garlic. Plant it in your garden, under your windows. Rub your doorframe and window frames with it. Rub the dog collar with it.

Helps against Ticks as well

Bitwarden. Definitely recommended.

backshift0022, in What password manager do you recommend?

As others say, Bitwarden checks all of those boxes, and KeepassXC technically doesn’t fit the “not self hosted” requirement, but you can store your database file in any cloud storage you want.

Mechanize, in Does anyone else struggle with silence, particularly when trying to sleep?

If silence is the real culprit you should try out a white noise generator, generally speaking it should overload/excite you less then music or human voices and could help you sleep faster.

Where I live silence during the night is not really an option, and I had had problems only when on vacation “away from civilization”, but small stuff like white noise, a fan or similar low but continuos sounds helped me out without asking for my attention (which happens with movies, music or similar).

There are even apps that simulate different kind of sound and let you mix them (like rain, birds, wind) but I didn’t have enough patience to really dig on this solution.

LachlanUnchained,

I think it’s more getting out of my own thoughts. And I feel white noise etc won’t shift my focus from that.

spitz, in Does anyone else struggle with silence, particularly when trying to sleep?
@spitz@lemmy.ml avatar

I find it helpful to listen to .mp3s of people talking about something I’m interested in. I can focus on that and drift off to sleep and wake up not even realising I fell asleep. Also, I’ve found a hindu mantra that helps sometimes. It’s so hypnotic, it just carries me into the navel of sleep.

I self host bitwarden currently, but have been playing with the idea of using Vaultwarden instead, just haven’t gotten around to uprooting my working system.
