Pieisawesome, in What can a senior desktop support tech do who is burned out?

I’d consider learning cloud. There are a lot of cheap certs for azure/aws.

You could also learn kubernetes, it’s something you’ll get paid quite well to be able to run for a company

OneNot, in Why is youtube recommending conservative "talking points" to me?
@OneNot@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah. I never really watched shorts, but I recently started watching them and I get tons of right-wing/red-pill shit in there despite clicking on “dont recommend this channel” (or whatever it says) on like 50 of those types of channels.

Yaxoi, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

I enjoy being in a roll with a good gym schedule, seeing the progress, and the sense of having put the work in.

Otherwise it really depends on the exercise for me : I dislike those that make it hard to breathe. But leg presses, and bicep curls alfeel empowering.

CarlCook, in What exercises can I do to strengthen my willpower?

In most cases it is not a lack of willpower but rather an exhaustion of the same. Try do arrange your daily routine around things you WANT to do and limit the things that burn attention and mental energy (doom-scrolling social media, ….).

It’s all about managing your (dopamine) resources economically.

RagingNerdoholic, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

For its own sake, no. Unless I happen to be doing something I intrinsically enjoy that happens to give me exercise, I hate it every time. I need some really motivating tunes otherwise, and they wear out fast after a few listens.

kamen, in What password manager do you recommend?

One vote for BitWarden.

blackdragoness, in Which one are you?

Sweet Potato Fries > Onion Rings > Chik Fil A > Five Guys > Steak n Shake

anti, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

Pleasure for me comes from achievement. The time I first ran 5k in under 30 minutes, or the first time I deadlifted more than my own bodyweight. Achieving these things gives you that nice feeling. Yeah, there are people who can run faster or lift heavier, but I try and concentrate on my progress - doesn’t always work but I know deep down I’m getting better at the things I choose to do.

lustyargonian, in Why is youtube recommending conservative "talking points" to me?

I think such content gets most engagement. Dunking on leftist ideas brings right wingers celebrating and parroting the piece while pissed left wingers trying to explain why the argument doesn’t make sense.

Caaaaarrrrlll, (edited ) in What password manager do you recommend?

KeeWeb. Compatible with anything that uses KeePass files.

It checks more than half or even all of your boxes.

  • Free and Open Source, on GitHub.
  • Can be self hosted. Or go to app.keeweb.info.
  • Can be synced to the cloud of your choice. Even supports WebDAV, which is very lightweight.
  • Encrypted at rest and end-to-end. Those clouds don’t have your decryption key. Decryption happens in your browser client-side.
  • Cross platform. Anything that can load a webpage or is compatible with KeePass can use it. It can be bookmarked to the home screen on mobile and it becomes its own app.
  • Auto fill via hotkey on PC.
  • Supports PINs/Multi-Factor Authentication codes.
  • Can attach secret files like backup codes or SSH keys.
  • Can configure how strong the encryption is on the KeePass file.
  • Theme support.
  • Secrets can be exported.

Edit: in another comment someone mentioned the KeeWeb developer is looking for another maintainer due to their own personal health issues. It’s been stale since mid-2022, while the core is considered still secure there is concern for its dependencies. It can be compiled at home with updated dependencies if that concerns you.

Bitwarden, hands down. been using them for like 7 years now? have got nearly 300 accounts in the password manager, and is fully free. Haven’t paid a single penny to them. Autofill is possible, on both android and web browser, although you’ll have to set it up through an extension. Fully cross-platform. Used it on Linux, windows, MacOS, IOS, iPadOS, Android. you can access it via a browser, is open source and is hosted by Bitwarden if you want to.

it ticks all your requirements!

Concept1037,

Bitwarden is great. If OP wants they can self host it via Vaultwarden which I’m using. It works perfectly.

Rathernotsay,

I pay just because I love them and it’s under 1$ a month

LoyalOrange503,
@LoyalOrange503@lemmy.world avatar

I would love to, but I’m a bit tight with cash atm. I’ve been meaning to pay the 10-11 quid a year plan just to support them. They’ve given so much to me and I haven’t given anything back :(

0x4E4F, in Is there an easy way to bring all my old technical posts from Reddit to Lemmy?
@0x4E4F@lemmy.fmhy.ml avatar

Are they all in one sub?

jaschen,

They are across from multiple subs. From obscure 3D printers to steps to bring pets to Taiwan, there has been over 12 years’ worth of my time spent there.

@0x4E4F@lemmy.fmhy.ml avatar

Well, you could ask the lemmy repost bot to make reposts of all of the subs you’ve posted here, on Lemmy, but ot only takes posts from today and maybe a few days back, reposts them here, and than just carries on reposting from that point on. It doesn’t actually repost retroactively.

Though you could probably speak to the dev that actually runs that instance, maybe he can make a bot mod that does the same, but with users and does it retroactively. It’s worth a shot IMO 🤷.

Probably not yet.

But i bet post & comment migration and archive is going to be important for many users that switch platforms over the comming months.

S_204, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

I like the feeling when I’m working very hard. Whether that’s lifting weights, hiking, mountains, or just moving heavy things I generally enjoy that feeling of exertion.

In terms of you starting to enjoy it, the only suggestion that I would make is that the only way through is forward and keep it going until it becomes enjoyable for you. That might sound counterintuitive but ultimately little in life that’s easy is worthwhile and the effort that you’ll put in will be rewarding.
