ZcaT, in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?

Lemmy history!

assassinatedbyCIA, in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?

The important first step is preparation. You need to clean the pipes. There should be nothing left inside you before you commence on the trip. So take some laxatives and do some cleaning. After you’re thoroughly pristine you must only consume a clear liquid diet, so clear juices and soft drinks (make sure you consume the full sugar version because that’s how you’ll get your energy). Take a multivitamin each day. On the second or third day take an Imodium, this is likely overkill but you won’t poop. Return to a normal diet on the third day but do so gradually over the course of a day or two. I cannot guarantee that this method will not damage your health and the risk will likely be greater if you have other health conditions, but you wont poop sooo.

MiddleWeigh, in I am learning acrylic painting. What is the best paint for scumbling?
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

I haven't painted in a long time..but perhaps like a gouache, or just get really good at dry brushing?

I think the thing your avoiding is the thing you should learn. Consistency = skill.

Learn the touch yknow.

3rdBlueWizard,

Do different paints dry brush differently? I guess that's kind of the same question. I'll just have to experiment.

MiddleWeigh,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

Yea each paint is different. Even different colors can be slightly different.

I think you just have to paint lots and lots of clouds tbh.

I am OK at painting, like I know the process, and used to be pretty into it, but I am out of the loop, sorry.

Painting is very tactile. There's little separation between you and the medium. You just have to do it a bunch yknow.

Just thought I'd pop in.

This classic: https://youtu.be/wKbU8B-QVZk

Every time I come across it I have to watch at least 10 times in a row.

Steam games

Kurt, in How did Ikea's Blajah became the symbol of the trans community ?
@Kurt@lemmy.one avatar

I don't know about the trans stuff, but Blåhaj has this neat little feature: https://twitter.com/FatherMcGruder/status/1429470778412699652?t=BcBVKBA4DIPtVIif__2c5w&s=19

estebiu,

You dare sending a link to twitter on the free fediverse?! You shall perishhh!

Kurt,
@Kurt@lemmy.one avatar

Sorry, pal. I just like hyperlinks.

MiddleWeigh, in What is your opinion about Lemmy not having karma but Kbin having reputation points?
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

I kinda like how it is now.

green_porcupine_1357, in Why is a millennium old fossilised human poop on display at the Archaeological Resource Centre in the UK?

do you think the person who made it was proud of it?

admin, in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?

Just start taking Adderall. If you're anything like me, you will have to remind yourself to eat more than 500 calories a day and then you will find yourself questioning how many days it has been since you even felt the need to poop.

justhach, in r/The_Donald has been banned on Reddit, what's to stop those users turning Lemmy into what became of Voat?
@justhach@lemmy.world avatar

There are way more of us than there are of them. Let them scream impotently into the void and hear nothing come back.

Sure, maybe they will rally some numbers and try ti make noise, but ultimately they will just get bored and move on as things aren't as monolithic here in the fediverse as they are on Reddit/Facebook/Twitter/etc.

lhx,
@lhx@lemmy.world avatar

I sure hope you’re right.

Flax_vert,

Wdym it's not as monolithic here?

tias,

Meaning different communities can set up their own Lemmy servers and they don’t necessarily have to be part of the same federated network, in case there are unresolvable conflicts.

I really wish he were still making videos.

Similarly, Nick Zentner's lecture on the Flood Basalts of the Pacific Northwest. I can't tell you how many times I've watched this exact lecture (although all of Zentner's stuff is great):

Vsauce's Which Way Is Down. Of all his videos, this is the one I keep going back to:

bquinlan, in How do I reach the right people here on Lemmy?
@bquinlan@lemmy.world avatar

Put an announcement in the New Communities community as a starting point. You can post links about it in other places where potential members are. Telling people to leave where they are and go to your site is inherently rude, so you have to be careful and polite. Check the rules for wherever you post and get a feel for the place before you put up a link.

In the long run people will find you, but it can feel like a very long run. Particularly since you need content to attract people and you need people to generate content. There is a tipping point where it will suddenly take off. Just try to be patient until you get there.

This is probably the best possible time to start new communities. All of us fledditors are creating new accounts and looking for communities to join.

justhach, in How do I reach the right people here on Lemmy?
@justhach@lemmy.world avatar

Eh, the fediverse is still small and growing. Even the much more popular (and, lets be honest, better in every perceivable way) lemmy community for guitars has a whopping 66 subscribers to /r/guitars 1.6 MILLION subs.

Just let things grow organically and share in other bass communities on other sites.

Defunctland's Disney's Fastpass: A Complicated History is a fantastic dive into the logistics of managing a giant crowd over several years, from approaching it as an engineering problem all the way to exploiting the system for profit. It's such a fascinating problem to me, and it's presented in an engaging and fun way. The rest of the channel is fantastic too!

I'll also recommend Fascinating Horror - these aren't fictional horror stories, these are real disasters told in an incredibly detailed but highly respectful way. They don't just explain the disaster and why/how it happened, but also the regulations that came afterwards to make sure these would never happen again. They're all high quality, but if you want a starting point the Nutty Butty Caves will give you a good idea what the channel is about.

Ooh, Defunctland was also the creator of my choice. But I went with Disney Channel’s Theme.
