For me it’s Casino. Easily my favorite movie.

Prox, in What movie did you rewatch most often?

I used to fall asleep watching Twister on VHS. Something about the substandard quality and tracking sound really sealed the deal when I needed to catch some Zzz’s.

I watched it so many times that I wore out the tape.

Screwthehole, in What's the benefit of using Kbin over Lemmy?

I set up both, and kbin was up while I couldn’t get on world for 36 hours. Granted it turns out I had to just quit the app to get it loading but I didn’t know that for a couple days and kbin worked fine

Practical Magic. It might be tied with Nightmare Before Christmas.

It was comfortable for me to watch them both often when I scored a VCR in my room.

NotThatKindofDoctor, in What series did you rewatch most often?

Seinfeld! I know every word for every episode. If I hear like one line of dialogue I can guess what episode it is. I’m obsessed. I even have a giant Seinfeld tattoo. It’s my favorite show of all time!

I use a yubico hardware key, for all of my TOTP and bitwarding password manager and my Google Voice for the 2FA

TheSaneWriter, in Advantages to selfhosting a Lemmy instance?
@TheSaneWriter@lemmy.thesanewriter.com avatar

I’m currently hosting a Lemmy instance, I started work on it Friday and finished getting it fully running today. It honestly depends on whether or not you want it to be public, as that will determine the amount of resources you put into it. For a personal instance, I think there are relatively few downsides, Lemmy is fairly light in terms of consumption and as long as you have dynamic DNS service you can fairly easily get it running on a home server. For a public instance, especially one hosted on the cloud like mine, it’s considerably more labor and a bit more expensive, but still worth it my opinion. So either way go for it, just be aware of your goals going into it.

AlternateRoute, (edited ) in The Best Two-Factor Authentication App? (iOS)

Since you only listed apple platforms you can also just use the built in options for both password management and 2FA.

Edit: support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/iphone/…/ios

There are even plugins for browser on windows for it if needed.

Lacks advanced family password sharing and other features but it is hard to beat for ease of use for an individual who mostly uses apple devices.

The only gripe I have about this is that third party browsers on MacOS don’t support Passkey. If you use Safari it’s absolutely wonderful, but…safari.

Still though, it isn’t incredibly difficult to just go into Settings to get passwords, but it’s still a pain.

Prefix,

This is pretty much the reason I use 1Password. I don’t like Safari, and it has reasonably good UX and extensions for all browsers + native apps.

AlternateRoute,

They released a Chrome and Edge extension to support 3rd party browsers about a year ago. I have never tried it but I noted it lets you be cross platform with the password feature.

I think this only works on Windows oddly enough. Probably really trying to push safari on macOS.

80085, in Why is youtube recommending conservative "talking points" to me?

If I use a private window, and don’t log in I get a lot of right-wing stuff. I’ve noticed it probably depends on IP/location as well. If at work, youtube seems recommend me things other people at the office listen to.

If I’m logged in, I only get occasional right-wing recommendations interspersed with the left-wing stuff I typically like. About 1/20 videos are right-wing.

YouTube Shorts is different. It’s almost all thirst-traps and right-wing, hustle culture stuff for me.

It could also be because a lot of the people who watch the same videos you do tend to also watch right-wing stuff.

In general, the algorithm tries to boost the stuff that maximizes “engagement,” which is usually outrage-type stuff.
