Jenny Nicholson's videos are great, but her documentary on "The Last Bronycon" is special, as the realization dawns on you while watching that she has more connection to Brony culture than you might have guessed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fVOF2PiHnc
I definitely get how you feel, but I think free communities stay like this one in tone, regardless of whether they get substantial growth. I think it could be a counterintuitive sign of health when Lemmy is big enough that some of its userbase is kinda annoying and you have to find the subs (is that the right term here?) with the community that you like
I am a fan of Namecheap. They have lots of exotic domains. Domains are easy to manage, free domain privacy but their support is really slow and a bit incompetent.
For local domains, like: .UK, .US, .DE, I register there locally. Thus making sure that all my service providers are capable if handling the local privacy laws.
I think karma could in some ways be fun, but overall was more of a liability than an asset for Reddit. I'm glad Lemmy didn't have it. Reduces karmawhoring incentives
I just finished watched Alone: Australia, one guy didn’t eat for over 20 days. Fasting may be a good option for avoiding needing to poo. I’d imagine you’d have to start that process maybe a day or two early. To get the best effect.
This was in Japan. They put raw egg on everything.
Apparently pizza is quite exotic to them, because they cost more than other foods and they had no idea of how to make a regular pizza.
I got the egg thing because I couldn't order anything ordinary, so I asked the waiter for his suggestion and took his word for it. I don't regret doing that but I probably won't order that pizza again.
Not on pizza, but a combo to try - Dill pickles with peanut butter. It’s gotta be smaller non-sliced crunchy dill pickles, cold. Peanut butter needs to be the processed creamy kind, with some sugar added. Delicious.
