JesusTheCarpenter, in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?

!RemindMe 7 days

kresten,

I'm sure it's coming at some point, we'll just need more fleshed out bot APIs

ImFresh3x, in Why does Lemmy feel so fresh compared to Reddit?

Absolutely not. 100% ruins the joke, in my opinion.

fleabomber, in Why does Lemmy feel so fresh compared to Reddit?

A lot of us have been nofapping reddit for a while so it's it a bit of a release to interact in this familiar way.

ergifruit,

"nofapping Reddit" is the greatest way i've ever seen anyone describe the situation

MrDude, in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?

Eat carbs, drink Gatorade or Powerade and poop before hand. Bro whatever you're doing I expect an update post!

Bruce, in Why does Lemmy feel so fresh compared to Reddit?

Here, people still feel as guests whereas on reddit, people stayed long enough to feel the place is their’s.

(“old timers shouln’t have to deal with this shit again”)

Exactly, I am very new to Lemmy and have been met with nothing but open arms from every community. Reddit at times definitely felt more elitist.

Knutsen,

Agree completely. I thinkk my reddit account is 13 years old now. I got over the new reddit UI, took me a while. Still the main thing is, the discussions are what made reddit. Right now, everybody seems to be jumping ship to lemmy/kbin, but most of the main topics are either crapping on reddit or trying to compare reddit with lemmy/kbin, instead of letting it be it's own thing.

My main site will still be reddit, if the quality of posts starts rising without bashing reddit on every 2nd one, then I might change completely.

Also, the UI still feels a bit basic to me.

thetreesaysbark,

I think the comparison is valid though. People want to know if Lemmy is a good alternative for them and you can only do that by comparing.

It doesn't take away that Lemmy is it's own thing.

maximus, in Whaf do you think of hosting an AMA with John Oliver to make Lemmy/kbin officially a viable Reddit replacement?

I've never administrated a Lemmy instance, but I can't shake the feeling that the traffic and activity that would generate would be a massive blow to the infrastructure we have right now. I can't name anybody at the moment, but maybe we should start with someone a bit smaller?

fleabomber,

Obviously the nerd would host his own shit. Or whatever you call it.

On here, for pretty much every opinion you can find someone who supports it. Sarcasm can really only be understood by people who know you, as they can compare it against what you usually say and do. The pure text form makes it even harder to understand sarcasm, as it removes any cues in your voice or facial expression.

It might somewhat ruin the joke, but in an environment like this, you have to be blunt if you want people to understamd you're being sarcastic, for example by adding a tag like "/s".

jadedctrl,

Yea, sarcasm’s contextual. Unless the joke’s about some opinion directly contradicting the community you’re posting in, it’s not safe to leave /s-less.

I do. Simply to avoid the annoyance of someone missing obvious clues that scream “this is sarcastic and ironic, should not be taken literally!” and creating drama out of nowhere.

Get your bowels empty in the days leading up to it. So don’t eat. Anything. 2 days before you can relieve yourself start eating small amounts of protein.

Or, better yet, don’t even try to do this. You’re very unlikely to succeed and therefore your effort is going into preventing an inevitable situation rather than figuring out how to deal with the inevitable problem once it arrives.

Bye, in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?

So you are going to wear some kind of pants that you can’t take off easily for 3 days. Maybe some kind of medieval armor, or a fursuit.

Gatorade has tons of calories because of the sugar, and it will leave nothing to poop out. It will give you the critical electrolytes (plants crave them) that you’re missing from food. Take a multivitamin too.

But it doesn’t have enough calories, and you need stuff to go in your stomach so you don’t suffer being empty on your temporary Gatorade diet. eat white bread. Your body metabolizes almost all of it, so there’s almost nothing to poop out.

You will need to poop out all your poop before doing this, so good hydration and veggies beforehand will clean you out. No need for laxatives, just switch to your new and stupid diet 36 hours before you need to stop pooping.

Good luck on your medieval battle reënactment or orgy.

  • I am not going on a hiking trip or mailing myself anywhere.

Sure sounds like something someone who's going to mail himself somewhere would say.

I don't, but I know that I'm rolling the dice when I do it that way, and I'm willing to live with the consequences.

And I say this as someone who regularly misses sarcasm when it's delivered to me in person :)
