Hehe thats why I think the original question of Box A being $1000 and Box B being a million was kinda boring, since $1000 is barely anything in today's world. 3 more zeroes does making things more interesting
It's pretty hard to make money crafting, but doable, and I think you just need to understand that going in. So I think what's most important is that you enjoy doing that particular craft. The selling is just icing.
Leather working, Jewelry, Tye dye, Hand made rugs...what do YOU like? Experiment, and find out.
It really just comes down to what you enjoy most and that you aren't expecting to make a full time job out it.
thank you and im more looking for something to start with that isint a full time job but more of a sidehustle, also how can i do commisions becasue fivver seems overcrowded so i might need to do things locally, maybe.
Yea I know, I'm just saying that side hustle is more just a product of you enjoying yourself and being creative. You should start first with finding what you actually like to do. I'd just try some stuff till something sticks you know?
It may be a while before your confident to put a price tag on it.
Comission is great, especially locally, depending which craft you do. I would consider this only after you found your groove.
Hope you find something worthwhile to spend your time on.
Advantage is if this thing slides in a direction the majority disagrees with it can be forked. On reddit all changes had to be accepted or you could leave. With lemmy and ActivityPub it's easier to fork the service and have it run in semi parallel to the OG. (Granted forking should only really be done if shit goes sideways)
Edit: besides, due to the open source status the community has more of a say in where things go
Not sure if that’s the type of creativity you’re looking for, but it’s quite common to sell stickers on Etsy, Redbubble and similar sites. Some stores are quite successful on it.
I would agree with the other comments here and say the best thing to do would be to vet sources. Things like 'looking through a commenter's history' or 'reading the About Us section of a news site' and 'looking at more than just the top 3 results from Google for sources'.
To be honest? The reddit thing was what reminded me lemmy existed. I signed up around a year before, got bored of it for whatever reason and went back to reddit. Then the thing happened, someone mentioned lemmy, and i thought to myself “oh wait lemmy exists.” And now i’m here.
I don't have a specific worst. The best was when I was complaining about my [then] wife for the umpteenth time. I don't remember which sub it was. Someone responded with, "Are you familiar with Borderline Personality Disorder? If not, you should look it up."
I did look it up. It explained everything I had seen up to that point. It is as like someone had written a text book about my wife. I was both relieved and terrified.
That was the starting point of getting out of that awful abusive relationship and getting my life back on track.
I’m glad you got out of that situation. Just a few days ago Cinema Therapy made a video about Anakin Skywalker and they said he shows many characteristics of Borderline Personality Disorder.
Of course, you can have BPD and not be an absolute abusive asshole but when they are, it’s horrible for the victims.
No repost bots, karma farming, or idiots (mostly). The learning curve to joining the fediverse filters out your average facebook/twitter type that Reddit is filled with today. Lemmy right now is how Reddit was a decade ago
Agreed. All of the comments against the protests on Reddit kind of give it away in how little they seem to actually understand how Reddit works and what made it great for so long. They see it as just another feed for them to browse and not a community to foster and participate in. Lemmy feels so great in comparison.
Would it be better to refer to servers as "websites"?
Users can make their own website or instance, there you can choose one to look through. It doesn’t matter where you choose to go since you can view all communities that are in the Lemmy network no matter what website they’re from.
I mean they do have their own domain, but each one is viewable from the other ones, so it seems like a bad comparison there. It kind of reminds me of RSS feeds.
