In redvest I used to be able to set fulfillment type with one press. They changed it to a dropdown so now it’s two taps

lemmie689, in Are those rust spots?
@lemmie689@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

There is a product called CLR, calcium lyme and rust remover, available at hardware stores.

SheDiceToday,

Isn’t CLR basically vinegar? All the other stuff in it is just to obfuscate how cheaply you could achieve the same effect.

US, my home state just sent a woman to prison for helping her daughter get an abortion. So, you know, living under a shitty theocracy that believes being poor or a woman is the worst sin imaginable.

Rhynoplaz,

“Pro life” should not mean destroying at least two lives to avenge one that never existed. 😔

Gorgeous_Sloth,

Fuckin hell

sara,

That story made me sick. The criminal justice system in the US is unimaginably cruel and fucked up.

UsernameLost,

My wife had a D&C after a miscarriage earlier this year. Luckily, our state isn’t as shitty as others, but the surgery was still labeled an abortion, and they made her answer a bunch of questions like it was a choice and not that our baby was dead for a month before the 12 week ultrasound. And the shitheel front desk woman lied to us and said that no one could be back there with her (obviously not in surgery, but I wasn’t even able to be back in the waiting area with her pre or post op), because that woman was a religious fruitcake and “didn’t agree with the procedure”

We raised some serious hell after finding that out and took it up through their patient advocate. It went up to the hospitals board and they issued an apology, which meant fuck all, and I think that woman was fired.

I don’t understand why people want to be involved in anyone else’s lives. I get it if you personally don’t agree with abortions, but that’s your choice. You don’t get the right to decide what someone else does with their own fucking body. The kicker is that most people don’t even realize that a D&C after a miscarriage is the same exact procedure and is classified the same. Excuse the fuck out of me if I don’t want my wife to die from sepsis or have to sit around for another 1-2 months with a dead fetus inside of her waiting for it to possibly discharge naturally. That whole experience was awful enough and she wanted it to be over as soon as possible.

Fuck your religious beliefs. Apply them to yourself, no one else should bend over to appease your stupid sky fairy bullshit.

SHamblingSHapes,

That’s awful. So heartless when your wife is going through physical terrors and both of you through emotional. And thank you for sharing, I can only hope the shitheels pushing these laws finally start listening to them.

Israel may annex or occupy the land long-term, so they’d build it up for Israelis. If they don’t keep it, prolly the UN.

angstylittlecatboy, in Would you say enthusiast grade or business grade products are better quality?

Enthusiast grade = Most powerful, most features

Professional grade = Most durable

Executive grade = Schmucks think it makes you look important

PhlubbaDubba, in At what point is violence on a large scale justified?

Depends on what kind of mass violence you’re thinking of.

The degree to which you can control its extent, direction, and collateral damage is the degree to which you can justify it.

An organized millitary march to capture vital infrastructure and establish defensible positions in preparation for retaliation and most likely war, quite easily justified.

An unhinged hate fueled massacre and mass raping to the point of literally smashing open panic room vaults to drag out more victims to murder and rape, well at least Lemmygrad and Hexbear will still have your back!

“The cloud is just someone else’s computers.”

If that’s what you really think the cloud is, still, then you are a dinosaur who is not evolving with the times.

optissima,

Wait what do you think the cloud is then? A bunch of computers owned by no one?

menturi,

I usually think of it this way, though I use the term server and acknowledge there are often many servers involved. Is this incorrect, or is there a better way to think about it?

theluddite, in At what point is violence on a large scale justified?
@theluddite@lemmy.ml avatar

People have been coming up with theories about this forever, from perspectives and time periods as diverse as Aristotle, St. Augustine, Gandhi, and Trotsky. You put a lot of very difficult questions in your post, but you didn’t put forth a criteria for what “justified” means to you. I think you’re going to need to interrogate that before being able to even think about any of these questions. For example, is violence justified by better outcomes, or by some absolute individual right to fight your oppressor? Is justification a question of morality, legality, tactical value, or something entirely different?

BmeBenji,

I know this lies at the core of the question, simply because “justification” is such a complex concept on its own. I asked the question because I can’t for the life of me get even remotely close to an answer because the different theories of morality and justice all are founded in sound logic, even though they contradict one another.

I want to hear what other people think, if they’ve made up their mind, and why they think what they think.

tankplanker, in Would you say enthusiast grade or business grade products are better quality?

People mix up duty cycle with build quality and functionality when talking about business vs. high end enthusiast gear.

Take a (random) example of an espresso machine or coffee grinder made for a coffee shop that can do 1000s of shots day in, day out, they tend to cost a small fortune. Compare that to a similarly priced home machine and the home machine cannot do that number of shots, just a hundred or so day in, day out, but will have way more functionality that an enthusiast will get value out of. Does a home espresso machine need to be able to do 1000s of shots per day over a 5 to 10 year period? Does it fuck.

Another example would be the duty cycle on a high end NAS or SAN drive that is designed for 1000x more reads and writes, never being turned off, etc. vs. a high performance enthusiast drive.

Buy the duty cycle you actually need.

JustZ,

I talked about the same thing in terms of hospitality televisions like you find in a hotel lobby or airport; on 365 days a year, at full brightness so you can see it from across the room. I bet a consumer TV would start to come literally unglued after a several weeks if made to work like that. Duty cycles is the term, and your advice to buy the cycle rating that you need is perfect.

LaunchesKayaks, in What do you use to backup all your photos and documents, cloud or external drive or both?
@LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world avatar

I use Google drive to backup my pics and memes because I don’t have enough to warrant getting anything bigger. I have the $2/month Google One subscription because the free one was barely too small. I can’t get rid of memes tho.
