DarkMessiah, in If you could custom make your *perfect* shoes, what features would they have?

Basically indestructible soles and insoles in terms of wear and tear, and an indestructible in general toe cap. Soft enough insoles to cushion, but firm enough to support. Light enough to use everywhere without feeling like I’m walking on King Kai’s planet. Self-tightening laces and mouth. GPS tracking in case I can’t find them or someone’s stolen them.

pan_troglodytes, in If you could custom make your *perfect* shoes, what features would they have?

they’d be like sandals, but with a lot of cushion - like walking on a porpoise. my palanquin bearers would wear them.

Nemo, in What makes video games addictive for you?

Lots of things. But if I notice a game becoming addictive for me, I stop playing. I know too many addicts.

CorrodedCranium, (edited ) in What makes video games addictive for you?
@CorrodedCranium@leminal.space avatar

For me it’s typically something I can enjoy absent mindedly.

It could be an element of a game I can enjoy without thinking like a solid soundtrack or visuals but not feeling like “losing” is a lose is another thing.

I like being able to shut my brain off and that typically means a lack of story but still having some form of progression.

I don’t think technical innovations relating to realism and multiplayer are essential. One of my favorite games is Hotline Miami which features pixel graphics and while shooters like Call of Duty do have a satisfying gameplay loop I feel like I hit a wall with progression eventually.

Multiplayer and VR games can also require some extra setup which is a hurdle for a game being addictive to me.

cheese_greater, (edited ) in What is Hamas' current charter or policy documents it relies on in terms of its own hegemony (if any at all)

I mean on the Israeli side but I feel like that applies equally to Hamas, if that makes sense. What’s that corrollary expression about opposites attract (similars repel)…

Hamas Official Ayman Shanaa: The Zionists Are Carrying Out A ‘Blatant Attack On Civilians’ – They Must Be Stopped; On October 7 We Exercised Our ‘Legitimate Right’ To Liberate Our Land And We Are Willing To Pay The Price

hakunawazo, in What's a sci-fi or fantasy book or series that you want to see adapted as a movie/television series?

Tad Williams - The Dragonbone Chair

Trudi Canavan - The Black Magician Trilogy

Emperor, in What do you do to reduce your use of single use plastics?
@Emperor@feddit.uk avatar

I have a few water bottles, I take my bags for life when I go shopping and I try hard to buy things in recyclable packaging. This has really helped reduce the amount that goes into my general waste.

argentcorvid, in Does Marijuana Make Anybody Pass Out Like Me?
@argentcorvid@midwest.social avatar

I had a reaction like that to an edible sample once. Felt like shit (low blood pressure symptoms), my wife says I was really pale, etc.

needless to say, i did not get more of those

bjoern_tantau, in What do you do to reduce your use of single use plastics?
@bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de avatar

What’s your problem? I think the only ones I can’t avoid are from packaging. But for my personal use everything is reusable.

shinigamiookamiryuu, in Who is the cruelest fictional villain?

Salem from RWBY

PlasterAnalyst, in My beagle has suddenly started resource guarding random stuff. What should I do to get this behavior to stop?

Beagles are naturally like that. They're also high energy dogs. I would try to walk and play with him more to wear him out.

LaunchesKayaks,
@LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world avatar

Ive been having my little sister take him and the other dogs out to play several times a day. My boy sleeps most of the day though lol

PlasterAnalyst,

Your little sister is now the Alpha.

LaunchesKayaks,
@LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world avatar

Lol she’s not because the dogs don’t even listen to her

starbreaker, in What do we get in return for paying taxes?

Feeling like you got fucked in the ass without having to question your sexuality?

starbreaker, (edited ) in For software devs, which job to pick
@starbreaker@kbin.social avatar

Take whatever job will pay the most while demanding the least amount of time spent on the job. It doesn't matter of a job pays a quarter million and lets you work on trendy tech if you're on the job 80 hours a week; that's just you getting fucked in the ass. If you're working 40 hours a week or less (ideally much less) you can do passion projects on your own time.

Don't look for friendship, community, or emotional fulfillment on the job. If you find it anyway, it's a trap. Do the job, get paid, and GTFO. Be a mercenary, not a company man.

starbreaker, in Circumcised men, how do you feel about your parents having mutilated your penis without your consent?
@starbreaker@kbin.social avatar

I know why my parents had me cut. It was because my father had been cut, and that's just what was done at the time. It's not a good enough reason for me, and if I had had sons I would not have allowed them to be cut in turn. My children are not my property.
