Psythik, in What do you do when you're hungover?

Cannabis and coconut water is the ultimate cure for hangovers.

And a bowl of either Menudo or Pho helps too if you can stomach food.

EvilEyedPanda,

The body armour drinks are fantastic for that.

Psythik,

Too much sugar and not enough potassium. Stick to coconut water.

PraiseTheSoup,

I agree completely but coconut water tastes like shit. I’d go with Pedialyte.

Not_Alec_Baldwin, in Who's going to pay for the reconstruction of Gaza

Probably similar to all the other aid.

They’ll send construction supplies that will be used for tunnels instead, and pipes for plumbing that will be used to make bombs instead.

So much aid has been directed to Palestinians only to be stolen by Hamas.

WillardHerman, in How long would you live if electricity for the whole world went out permanently?
@WillardHerman@lemmy.world avatar

About six weeks.

After my medications run out, then about one or two weeks and I die. Period.

PraiseTheSoup, in What do you do when you're hungover?

Pedialyte, ibuprofen, and weed. I don’t drink much anymore but I used to get the most wicked hangovers that would leave me puking well into the afternoon the next day and unable to keep even water or pills down. Weed is the only thing that helps in that situation.

angstylittlecatboy, in How is your part of the world doing?

USA.

I’m pretty sure most people would agree USA now is a worse place than USA in the 80s/90s, but austerity measures that hurt almost everyone now but helped the economy in the short term are a big reason why the 80s and 90s were prosperous for many. We’re finally starting to turn away from austerity and unions are growing in strength, but that’s not to say that (relatively speaking) the economy is good here, inflation is hitting hard, and who knows if Republicans win 2024.

The biggest existential threat to the country is the attempted hostile takeover by theocrats, which has been well over 40 years in the making, is nothing short of conspiracy, and quite frankly I think secession talks should get serious if Trump wins in 2024, even moreso if Rs get a majority in Congress. Maybe this comes off as panicky, but there’s a reason women, LGBT people, and non-whites are the biggest buyers of guns now. I can’t afford one.

At this point whether Republicans or Democrats will win 2024 feels like a coin flip. Biden’s polling worse than Trump (neither is polling great) but also Democrats are winning most special elections (usually special elections go to Republicans) and a slue of anti-gerrymandering court decisions are taking effect, not to mention Trump could be in jail (and a bunch of other politicians from both parties are getting sued.)

pete_the_cat, in Can anyone recommend terrible horror films?

Manos: The Hands of Fate

I’ve seen it mentioned many times that it’s the worst movie ever, I think it got a 1.7 on IMDB.

HootinNHollerin, in What do you do when you're hungover?
@HootinNHollerin@sh.itjust.works avatar

Back in like 2007 there was a great show called “three sheets” as in three sheets to the wind old sailor term for drunk. Host would travel the world and party w locals then try their local hangover cure

GONADS125, in Can anyone recommend terrible horror films?

Dude Bro Party Massacre III and Velocipastor should satiate hunger for B movies.

FYI, there’s no Dude Bro Party Massacre 1 or 2; just 3.

pete_the_cat,

Velocipastor is amazing.

Apollo2323, in What do you do when you're hungover?

Don’t forget to drink water the night before , you will feel better the next day. Its dehydration that hit us the most so being hydrated while and after drinking helps a lot.

HootinNHollerin,
@HootinNHollerin@sh.itjust.works avatar

Drinking water that night is worth way more than playing catch up in the morning. I’ve always heard and also tried b vitamins at night too

Orionza, in Who's going to pay for the reconstruction of Gaza
@Orionza@lemmy.world avatar

Israel wants the land. They’ve been taking Palestinian homes and properties and kicking out the owners for many years. They’ve requested that people in northern Gaza move out, and go south or be killed. They plan to take Palestinian land for themselves, imo.

ChonkyOwlbear, in Who's going to pay for the reconstruction of Gaza

At this point, it is not unlikely that Israel will just kill everyone and take the land.

Feeee23, in What do you use to backup all your photos and documents, cloud or external drive or both?
@Feeee23@lemmy.world avatar

I wouldn’t necessarily trust a cloud so I would encrypt my files before uploading and wouldn’t use the cloud as my only solution. Because they guarantee for nothing and could just delete your account or their service. But it can expand your backup with another layer.

(Haven’t found my perfect solution, just some thoughts)

return2ozma,
@return2ozma@lemmy.world avatar

What do you use instead?

Feeee23,
@Feeee23@lemmy.world avatar

Like I said I haven’t found my ideal solution yet. I’m using multiple offline harddrives at my home and at my parents home. So my backup is more or less save from most problems/attacks. But its not really up to date and its a lot of manual work always pluging them in when I want to make a backup und copying the files.

SHamblingSHapes, in Who's going to pay for the reconstruction of Gaza

It will be a political debate point for decades to come, as how to support Israel has been a point of debate for decades past.

US politics at the foreign policy level can change dramatically every election cycle. I can’t guess what their policies might be in the next 1, 5, 10 years.

Pons_Aelius,

US politics at the foreign policy level can change dramatically every election cycle.

Yes, they can but they don't.

Bitrot,
@Bitrot@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

They won’t in this case. Israel can do nearly anything, the US will even condemn some of them, but that won’t affect support. As Biden has said many times “if there was no Israel the US would have to invent an Israel to protect her interests in the region.”

tallwookie,

the ideology changes though!

Pons_Aelius,

When it comes to foreign policy there is no real difference between D and R.

R invaded Iraq on a lie.

D stayed there and kept it going.

pastermil, in Are those rust spots?

Even if it is, some iron oxide wouldn’t hurt. Some cast-iron teapots even depend on it for improving taste, I’ve heard.

vector_zero,

Though there are different flavors of iron oxide. Gun bluing is iron oxide, but so is rust. One is protective and the other is detrimental.

pastermil,

I was talking about human consumption lol

Psythik, in What does this icon mean?

No humans allowed.
