A lot of homes where I grew up still had coal fires, so yes, a lot, but its been a long while since I have seen a coal fire. Charcoal as the other commenter said i still see regularly on bbq’s .
Charcoal isn’t coal. There are several types of natural coal and charcoal, and they all have slight differences in density and chemical composition; so they probably all look a bit different when burning. Just like how different brands and types of charcoal can also look slightly different when burning (such as one kind throwing off sparks while it ignites and another that doesn’t).
I’ve never seen natural coal burning. But I’ve seen at least 3 types (not just brands but actual differences in how they are made) of charcoal burn, and they all give quite a different “show” as they do.
In the past imgbb was used to post CSAM to some communities so some instances remove links to images hosted on it (or I guess ban the user in the instance you were on)
Edit: seems like that was lemmy.world, reach out to their community team and ask to be unbanned if you want your account unbanned, seems like they did that for someone else in the past
Why not raise the request while being nice? You’d be surprised how much spam and scam I remove every day. So I wrote a bot that will do parts of it for me. The bot is not perfect and there will be false positives. If you contact the admins instead of calling them dicks, you might actually improve the Automods in use and prevent another false positive!
I’d make personal asset-backed debt above a certain amount per capita taxable. The real reason they pay so little tax is that they never actually realize their assets - they just borrow against them, and all that debt is then slowly deleted through inflation.
So, when they use asset-backed debt instead of income - tax it.
All the people saying taxes or caps on income are missing the point. Who should impose those taxes or caps? The government is basically controlled by billionaires, it doesn’t matter what the ordinary citizens want.
True, there should be a topic on this and at the very least, give sample alternatives for those less tech savvy. We should try to do better than Reddit, especially with communicating; something they were notoriously bad at.
Trump is cursed to live until he Makes America Great Again. He will run election after election, with unnatural longevity, but once he gets back in office he only has one term left to find the error of his ways, discover Wisdom in Friendship, and bring moral-philosophy-flavour-of-the-month to the troubled but inherently glorious institution of American politics, or the curse will be fulfilled and he will spend eternity haunting golf clubs and expensive hotels not quite dead but never quite alive.
…
Tune in later to part II, where, in a world taken over by the all-powerful EU, Donald’s seventh descendent learns of the calamity of his forefather and sets out to rediscover the truth about America and set her people free from the tyranny of socialised healthcare. Coming soon: “The Seventh Trump”
Followed shortly after with direct-to-TV prequels “Seals and Fur Hats: the Decline of True America”; and sequels, “Bowling with the Ghosts of Presidents Past, Present and Future.”
Somebody downvoted you… I didn’t think the sync hate was a thing yet, anyway, Sync is a damn beauty, it handles the very aggressive ram management of android very well, for me (and for many many more aspects) I think Sync is the best app for Reddit and Lemmy, and maybe the best app I have ever used on Android LMAO.
While I agree (I paid for it on Reddit and Lemmy), the dev does disappear for stretches of time, like now. When my main instance updates to 0.19, I expect things will break in Sync as it hasn’t been updated since the release of 0.19.
My instance is using the latest Lemmy version and nothing broke for me, if any I don’t have the new sort types, if I want to use them I usually head to Voyager, sadly I didn’t find the new sort types very interesting, or maybe I need to browse them more hah.
I do agree that if he is charging for something he should be more present with their users though, but I’m pretty sure if something critical happened he would be on it ASAP, granted I don’t know how active he is in his Discord server or on GitHub.
An upper income cap for individuals AND corporations. $250 million for individuals, $250 billion for corps. 90% taxes on revenue over $1 million. Tax idle stock at 1% per share, per quarter.
Yeah, there are a thousand loophole. The very rich get paid in stock or low interest loans and the like. Thier stated income is often very low to avoid paying taxes. Corporations of course can just split up into multiple corporations to avoid caps.
He claims this legislation will give him the authority he needs to do something. Do you really believe the president of the United States doesn’t have the authority to take action in securing our borders?
I’d like to see the text of this bill, because I don’t believe the White House is incapable of taking action and actually needs additional powers.
How is science and futurism with Isaac Arthur (SFIA) not getting more love? They are probably the highest quality and most educational videos on the entirety of YouTube. And while all of the videos cover the future, they cover wildly different topics and fields.
What will space travel actually be like? Will we live in space? What about new space sports? How will space effects our diets? What about AI? How will it effect our lives and hobbies? Mind uploading? Clark tech? Dyson swarms? O’Neill cylinders? Could the entire universe be a hallucination?
How is science and futurism with Isaac Arthur (SFIA) not getting more love?
Tbf, Isaac Arthur will sometimes propose ideas that absolutely no hope of working such as orbital loops. While I get that he’s not an engineer, videos like that tend to be a blemish on his reputation.
The inflation isn’t “fake” and it’s not a result of greed. The greed has always been there, during periods of hyperinflation and during periods of stability.
The thing that changed is the competition, which naturally counterbalances the greed, has been reduced during the pandemic.
