SocialMediaRefugee, in Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?

Maybe John Wayne Gacy, otherwise I accept the art for its own merit.

breathless_RACEHORSE, in best app for lemmy?

I float between Connect and Boost. Both excellent.

edgemaster72, in Who in your opinion is the modern day equivalent to Mozart?
@edgemaster72@lemmy.world avatar

This is the kind of question that makes me hate my mortality, because culture is so scattered and vast and changing so rapidly these days that it seems difficult to imagine anything “modern” lasting for hundreds more years, and we’ll never actually be able to know the answer.

Eternal lands.

k0mprssd, in best app for lemmy?

haven’t seen any comments mentioning connect yet, so that would be my recommendation. by far the most fully featured and smooth lemmy app imo and its my favorite. I’ve used most other apps but I always come back to connect because of all the different ways I can customize it and all the settings I can change that I simply don’t see in a lot of other apps.

PRUSSIA_x86, in What is an obscure piece of media or videogame that you think nobody else here has heard of?

I have never met anybody else who played the Wall-E game for Wii.

Meuzzin, in Who in your opinion is the modern day equivalent to Mozart?

Dwayne Rudolph Goettel (Skinny Puppy) Peter Christopherson (Psychic TV, Coil, Throbbing Gristle)

If we change this question to generational, instead of “modern times”, those two would fit into Gen X.

Richard Wright (Pink Floyd) Ray Manzarek (Doors) Elton John

For the “Boomers”.

Tori Amos Trent Reznor Atticus Ross

For the Millenials.

I’m sure there’s many more from those 3 generations. But they have my vote.

lemmie689, in Who in your opinion is the modern day equivalent to Mozart?

I would say David Gilmour. Pink Floyd music comes to mind for having some pretty symphonic sounds.

No_Ones_Slick_Like_Gaston, in Who in your opinion is the modern day equivalent to Mozart?

Freddy Mercury and David Bowie are up there in that podium.

Ramin Djawadi no contest.

stoy, in What gifts are you getting for your friends and family members?

I am thinking about getting dad an Airspy stick and a Raspberry pi, we both love Flightradar24, and he has spoken about setting up a node in the network for them.

FrickAndMortar,

That’s a really interesting idea; my kid wants to be a pilot and just discovered flight tracker… I’m going to check out Airspy’s “how to” stuff and see about this as a gift idea too!

stoy,

If you do get that and start submitting data to Flightradar24, you’ll get a free top level account, at least that was true when I checked last time.

Just remember that you need an antenna as well…

theJWPHTER88, in What is the best modern song for a door bell?
@theJWPHTER88@kbin.social avatar

For a complete surprise, just the few intro part notes of bo en's "My Time".

JungleJim, in Who in your opinion is the modern day equivalent to Mozart?

I’m learning lots of good music here, but I was really hoping Surfan Stevens was a surf-rock cover artist of Sufjan Stevens and Cat Stevens.
