ilinamorato, in How many tabs do you have open?

On my personal Firefox, five pinned and usually 3-4 more. On my work Firefox, six pinned and 4-6 more in one window, and probably another 6-10 on a window in the other monitor.

If I can’t see at least part of the page title on each tab, I start feeling anxious. I do a lot of bookmarking, sending to Pocket, etc.

tierelantijntje, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

When I have issues eating I go for non-offensive foods that are easy to swallow such as a can of white beans in tomato sauce, plain full fat Greek yoghurt, oatmeal made with milk and not water, lentil soup. I sometimes make 1000 kcalorie smoothies with half an avocado, 2 tbsp peanut butter, cup of 10% fat yogurt, a banana, 1/2 cup oatmeal and enough orange juice to make it liquid. Will not win any taste awards but does contain a bunch of good stuff.

governorkeagan,

I’ve done the smoothie before as well, not the same recipe but high calorie smoothies none the less.

xaxl, (edited ) in What companies have made your blacklist?

Several local (but national chain brand) furniture stores.

So many reasons. One had better quality furniture on display than what they sold by a long way. Another tried to give me not one but two firm mattresses instead of medium and lie to me about them. Yet another got caught out blatantly lieing to my face about delivery times and procedures.

All of them had great customer service right until the point that they had our money and then completely treated us like garbage afterwards.

its_prolly_fine, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

Chicken broth and saltine crackers.

TheGreenGolem,

Chicken broth, yes! I tend to cure my hungover with it. Works wonders.

plz1, in Do you disable notifications for all your apps?

It’s the first thing I do when installing a new app, as most prompt for it on first launch, and I reject it immediately. I can always allow them later, but it’s been my default mode since iOS started letting you control them.

For email and work IM’s, my phone shows only the badge, no sound. Signal, SMS, and the phone app get sounds, too. That’s it, silence on everything else.

Mandy, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

I had a pinewatch for a good while, neat little thing for 40 bucks, until the belt thingie broke and I couldnt use it anynore

I’d love to get new one, or a band that is

Aggravationstation,

They use standard 20mm straps, pretty cheap on ebay. I wear my Pinetime every day, great device.

orcrist, in How do I stop my cats from eating my plants?

They are not your plants. They are the cats’ plants. :-)

What do you mean “no longer”?

LemmyKnowsBest, in Can anyone else feel sensations in their brain?

if I pay attention I can feel my amygdala clicking

foggy, in What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

I find greasy umami stuff in small quantities gets me from “hunger nausea” to “hunger”

E.g buttered toast.

NaoPb,

So the taste of buttered toast is umami? In that case, I LOVE umami!

257m, in How many tabs do you have open?

More than I can count thats for sure.

Onii-Chan, (edited ) in Do you disable notifications for all your apps?

Email, Signal and SMS get notifications. Literally everything else is off, and I use Buzzkill to shorten the vibrate. I have ASD, and run my own business, so I get literally 30-40 SMS/200+ Signal notifications a day, and the constant BZZZZ BZZZZ actually causes me an immense amount of sensory overload. Buzzkill ensures that vibration pattern is nothing more than a very quick sub-half second, one-off buzz. The number of apps I actually have installed is so few, I can literally fit them on one screen, no scrolling required, and I check for the few app updates I'll need manually each day.

Franzia, in Lesbians of lemmy, how do you introduce your SO to other people without getting them confused for just a friend?

Partner.

oxideseven, in How many tabs do you have open?

Bare minimum is 7 cus they are pinned. These are tabs I reference constantly. 2 for monitoring servers, 2 for emails, 2 for chat, 1 for lofi girl.

After that it’s just based on the current project. So anywhere from 1 for browsing to 20 while doing research.

Add another 7 if you include my work computer for the various sites I work out of.

I try to close anything not currently used quite often and just store things in bookmarks.

__, in Anyone else no longer remember snoozing their alarm?

All the fucking time!

I had a run of several good years where I was able to get out of bed after a few alarms.

Prior to that, and recently, it's been "automatic behavior" that is damnably difficult to control.

Context, significant sleep disorder here - but setting that aside, you're not alone.

Stuff I tried and discarded, but that might work for you

  • $friend please call me until I am awake enough to have a conversation
  • Boss, please ping me a ton of times in the AM (requires understanding and/or them to know what's going on)
  • Alarms all over the damn house .
  • Alarms locked inside of analog safes and other related silliness.

What worked ultimately, was a comb of meds and an amazing partner who helped support me through the various diagnoses, and etc. that came with it.

Sometimes, I still bump it be an hour, but I know that I did it. From where I sit, the idea of having no recollection of the 7:00 that you reset, but waking up for the 7:10, well that sounds likely to degrade going forward - and probably at the worst moment possible.

Last week was positively brutal to me, for a bunch of reasons. As the week wore on, my loving and persistent partner is the only reason I made it to the office. Two things net saved my tail - meds made a real difference once we sorted doses and such, but I would absolutely NOT be a productive professional today if not for my wife.

Some days, she just nudges when she hears the alarm go off. Some days, she has to hit me with a brick to get my attention. Neither is ideal, of course, but a supportive and loving person who is right there and knows how hard to shove you; and what to do when shoving that hard isn't enough. is life changing.

I know what works for me, open to a chat, might give you some ideas.
