HubertManne, in I read that weed makes you not dream, then when you go off weed you have crazy dreams. So heavy, heavy weed users that quit, how long did you have crazy dreams for?

asking for a friend?

Devi, in Have you ever come across some sort of container or organizer for anything that ended up being strangely useful?

I mean, boxes in general are my organising style. I keep a lot of aquariums so I bought 8 shoebox sized boxes, one for substrate, one for decor, one for water testing, etc.

In my bathroom I used to have a lot of stuff so I bought a few wicker baskets, hair stuff, skin care, and make up, then a tall cupboard with fabric boxes for cleaning products, toothcare, hair dyes, bath bombs, you know. I have boxes everywhere.

The most stereotypical thing about teenagers are the people who are charged with bringing them up, or not.

ZosoRocks3, in I read that weed makes you not dream, then when you go off weed you have crazy dreams. So heavy, heavy weed users that quit, how long did you have crazy dreams for?

This doesn’t answer the question, but is some interesting info youtu.be/WwrrKlII4XA?si=WfR-87RdEBHVAgYB

hemko, in What are your experiences with polyamory, first or second hand?

Back when me and my wife started dating, it was a long distance relationship and we agreed that it’s OK if we see other people too. Neither of us did, but I feel like “expanding relationship” should only happen when your primary deal is in healthy state and not to try fix issues in it by dating someone else.

TheBananaKing,

Yep, ‘opening up’ to fix a bad relationship is as terrible an idea as having a child to fix one.

Poly relationships are fine and great and positive, but they absolutely need a solid, healthy foundation to rest on.

captainlezbian,

Yeah the way I like to describe that is that nonmonogamy can solve relationship problems but only the ones caused by needing nonmonogamy. Alternatively learning poly philosophies has done wonders for some monogamous people I know. They may not get compersion from a partner seeing someone else, but they do have the words to recognize and appreciate the happiness of being a loved one’s joy. And they communicate great too.

jubilationtcornpone, in What are the most annoying stereotypical things about teens? (both perspectives)

A lot of the “stereotypes” around teenagers are based on an element of truth. Being a teenager is difficult for a lot of reasons. Probably the biggest one is that physical growth quickly outpaces brain development. They’re kids who are changing into adults but lack hindsight, experience, the ability to analyze risks, and a sense of their own mortality.

I tell my teenager that everyone makes mistakes. An honest person takes responsibility for their mistakes. A smart person learns from them. But, a wise person learns from the mistakes of others. None of those things is easy and they each require a lot of humility. If you can learn to put your pride aside and be a good student of life, it makes things a lot easier.

redballooon, in What's a sci-fi or fantasy book or series that you want to see adapted as a movie/television series?

The Cosmere, or at least the Mistborn part thereof. While reading I often pictured movie scenes.

ValiantDust, in Where to get raised relief maps?

Weirdly enough, I’ve answered a similar question here before but my answer might actually be more helpful for you.

Thanks! This seems to fit the bill perfectly! I just wish there were more options for sizes, but otherwise, very likely will order from there. Did you use their site before?

ValiantDust,

I’m glad it was helpful. No, I never bought anything myself. I vaguely remembered that the relief maps we had at school were from a company in the region and I searched for them.

Sigh…seems Spain is not on the shipping list…for…reasons? They seem to ship to about any surrounding country, but Spain…

ValiantDust,

Ah damn, that sucks. I wonder what’s the reason for that.

Drusas, in Excluding the obvious ones such as politics, what topics can't you stand listening to people talk about?

Their kids.

Jeff Long’s The Descent:
In a cave in the Himalayas, a guide discovers a self-mutilated body with the warning “Satan exists”.
In the Kalahari Desert, a nun unearths evidence of a proto-human species and a deity called Older-than-Old.
In Bosnia, something has been feeding upon the dead in a mass grave.
So begins mankind’s most shocking realization: that the underworld is a vast geological labyrinth populated by another race of beings. Some call them “devils” or “demons.” But they are real. They are down there. And they are waiting for us to find them…
And it’s sequel, Deeper:
A decade has passed since doomed explorers unveiled a nightmare of tunnels and rivers honeycombing the earth’s depths. After millennia of suffering terror and predation, humanity’s armies descended to destroy the ancient hordes. Deep beneath the Pacific Ocean, a doomed science expedition killed the subterraneans’ fabled leader, and suddenly it seemed that evil was dead and all was right with the world again.
Now “Deeper” arrives to explode that complacency and plunge us back into the sunless abyss. Hell boils up through America’s subways and basements to take its revenge and steal our children. Against the backdrop of a looming war with China, a crusade of volunteers races to find the vestiges of a lost race. But a lone explorer, the linguist Ali von Schade, learns that a far greater menace lies in the unexplored heart of the planet. The real Satan can’t be killed, and he has been waiting since the beginning of time to gain his freedom. Man and his pitiless enemies are mere pawns in the greatest escape ever devised.

Vaggumon, in What's a sci-fi or fantasy book or series that you want to see adapted as a movie/television series?
@Vaggumon@lemm.ee avatar

I’d absolutely love a faithful adaptation of SnowCrash by Neil Stephonson to a TV series, don’t think a movie would be doable, unless they did a trilogy or something.

Moobythegoldensock, in Lemmy Democrats, what is just ONE nice thing you can say about Donald Trump?

Trump actually believes in the COVID vaccines and authorized Operation Warp Speed.

CarbonIceDragon, in What's a sci-fi or fantasy book or series that you want to see adapted as a movie/television series?

I feel like the Destroyermen series would fit a tv show format pretty well.

the_q, in What are the most annoying stereotypical things about teens? (both perspectives)

The most annoying thing about teens is the same thing that’s annoying about adults and that’s you guys can’t accept the idea that you might be wrong about something.

llamapocalypse, in What's a sci-fi or fantasy book or series that you want to see adapted as a movie/television series?

The Lies of Locke Lamora would make a fantastic show/movie if done well, and I feel like the vast majority of it is pretty screen-friendly. Basically just some minor cgi for the scorpion-hawk and Falselight and you’re good.
