slurp, in FOSS alternative to... Sending Spotify links?

I’m curious about this too, but more for for sharing long, self-made playlists. A single song is not too bad to send or find on YouTube but a playlist is difficult

Captain_Patchy, in What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?

Shuffle no repeat on my 60 gb ipod classic. Also shuffle no repeat using VLC for android on my phone.

Find it on Piped or some other YouTube front end that isn’t associated with Google aside from allowing you to watch the videos uploaded to YT.

theKalash, in What MMOs are you all playing?

Currently winning at EVE Online.

JollyRoberts,

@theKalash hehe, same. Also EVE Echos.

Kim’s Convenience on Netflix.

Loved this show. Wish there was more.

Ronnie,

Beyond frustrated that they got cancelled so suddenly. I wish they could have made a real final season

quick7silver,

Oh, I didn’t know they got cancelled! That explains the underwhelming ending.

Salad_Fries,

One of my favorite shows! Definitely recommend

I’m quite enjoying it too but I think it borders on horror with the themes of where the modern world will end up.

teft, in Where on the globe would you best be able to sail a very large ship without being detected?
@teft@startrek.website avatar

Point Nemo. It’s the farthest point from land in the world.

I_Has_A_Hat,

Ironically, this would be a terrible place to try and hide. Since it’s the furthest point from land, it tends to get visited by private ships pretty often, just so the people on board can say they’ve been to it.

BroBot9000,
@BroBot9000@lemmy.world avatar

Point Nemo sounds really cool but you bring up an excellent point.

perviouslyiner,

And any deorbiting space hardware is aiming in your direction.

Here’s a weird suggestion, watch all Mr. Bean shows. It’s like one season and few episodes.

EarthShipTechIntern,

Dial back & watch Blackadder. Rowan Atkinson before Mr Bean, plus, Dr House (Hugh Laurie), Stephen Fry supporting cast. Worlds better than Mr Bean IMO

WashedOver,
@WashedOver@lemmy.ca avatar

Mr Bean is pretty universal no matter the audience. I quite enjoyed Blackadder but I also enjoy history and have grown up on exported British television so I could keep up with the it. Not sure as many could like Mr Bean. Still is amazing the cast and what they did after Blackadder.

meldrik, (edited ) in What MMOs are you all playing?

I usually play Guild Wars 2, but at the moment I’m trying out World of Warcraft: Classic Hardcore. It’s quite fun and challenging.

WoW: Seasons of Discovery has also peaked piqued my interest. I hope it has potential to become WoW: Classic+.

Orbituary,
@Orbituary@lemmy.world avatar

Piqued. “peaks” are tops of mountains or pinnacle of achievement.

bort,

maybe his interest has peaked and it’s only going downhill from here

meldrik,

We will see, once Season of Discovery is out :D

I’m confused, can you not just search “Blur Song 2 spotify” (for example) in your browser and copy the link that comes up without ever actually clicking it or using Spotify? I don’t use Spotify either but sometimes want to show my friends songs and I know they won’t listen unless it’s a Spotify link so I do this.

txmyx, in FOSS alternative to... Sending Spotify links?

Maybe piped?

downpunxx, in Circumcised men, how do you feel about your parents having mutilated your penis without your consent?
@downpunxx@kbin.social avatar

Ah yes, more antisemitism. Hittin on all cylinders I see you Nazi fucks. I feel excellent about it, not only does my cock not look like a sad elephant, but it's more hygienic than leaving unnecessary skin over the tip of my dick. Thanks for asking.

Uranium3006,
@Uranium3006@kbin.social avatar

Fuck off

Krakakaaa, (edited )

Take it easy. I had not made the connection yet, being raised as an atheist European. I knew one guy in high school who was circumcised and he was the weird one in the showers. I was thinking about Americans.

magnetosphere,
@magnetosphere@kbin.social avatar

In America, circumcision is common whether you’re Jewish or not. This isn’t necessarily a religious question. Avoid jumping to conclusions, especially when it involves implying that someone is a bigot.

Antisemitism is heinous, which means it’s also a very serious charge to make. Throwing the word “antisemitism” around based on such weak evidence only dilutes it.

Krakakaaa,

I see why he thinks of antisemitism, but I was just thinking of the circumcision without any real reasons, other than ‘that’s just what we do’.

magnetosphere,
@magnetosphere@kbin.social avatar

I think for many, ‘that’s just what we do’ is all the thought that goes into it.

DarkGamer, (edited )
@DarkGamer@kbin.social avatar

An estimated 58.3% of male newborns and 80.5% of males aged 14-59 years in the United States are circumcised source

Circumcision is common in the US and usually has nothing to do with Judaism. Male genital mutilation without consent is terrible, even when one's imaginary friend condones it.

not only does my cock not look like a sad elephant

Fuck you for body shaming people who didn't have it done.

Mediocre_Bard, in What MMOs are you all playing?

World of Warcraft Retail … still.

cryostars,

Like every day or casual? Shadowlands was pretty much the nail in the coffin for me retail-wise. Have had some fun with classic the last couple years though.

Azteh,

For me it’s every day for new seasons for about 2 months and then I start going casual and just raid log.

Bitrot, in What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?
@Bitrot@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Pandora sort of has some of that but not so far in depth. You can customize with crowd favorite songs or hits or deep cuts or discovery. Their library is much smaller though, and you’re stuck in a genre based on the station for the most part.

Redditgee, (edited )

This is kinda how I operate. Just listen to pandora while I’m doing other tasks and see if new songs grow on me, then every few weeks, I put all my thumbed up songs on spotify playlists.

asqapro, in What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?

I’ve been using Deezer for a while and I like its variety. They have a “Flow” button where you can let it play random music with favorites mixed in, but you can also select a “mood” (like Focus, Party, Chill, and others) or genres (like R&B, Alternative, Rock, and others). You can also have Flow lean more towards new music or already favorited tracks, but that’s been inconsistent for me in the past where sometimes it’ll only play my favorited songs when I chose to listen to new music or vice versa.

I’ve discovered a lot of new songs and artists by letting Flow do its thing on my drive to and from work. Although, sometimes Flow gets stuck in a certain style of music, like playing back-to-back-to-back Golden Oldies, and it’s frustrating trying to get it to play anything else without manually selecting a genre or mood each time you launch the app. That’s a small gripe because the variety is typically good, with favorites mixed in.

reev,

I love flow but deezer’s music variety is just really lacking compared to Spotify or YouTube music for me, unfortunately. I want to love it!
