I basically just eat whatever I feel like whenever I feel like it. Lots of meat and fat and salt. Seems to work great, I’m reasonably skinny and healthy. To the extent I’m not just getting randomly lucky I think I’ve stumbled into something in the Atkins diet genre, with unlimited calorie and nutrient dense foods not being an issue because they fill me up when I’ve had enough.
It’s your genetics. I’m the same way. Can eat basically anything. At my absolute heaviest I was 5’11 165lbs, which is heavier than I like to be. But I just cut out the 10 sodas I drank a day and lost the 10 lbs I wanted to in like a month.
I assumed it’s because Lemmy has more users over 30. I think most of the younger people are still hoping in vain that Reddit will stop being horrible. I imagine they’ll be here soon enough lol
For me it was Huffman basically saying he planned to ruin the site AND force everyone to use the shitty app so that he could sell off Reddit in the IPO to put more money into his own overstuffed pockets. Then he allowed everyone to graffiti a fake wall about how mad they were for one whole week so those who stayed could pretend like they were “fighting the man” and then completely stop talking about it lol
I wasn’t a fan of that either, but ultimately it doesn’t matter. I used it as a time waster, the politics of the site just aren’t that important to me.
I’ve been a vegetarian for about 20 years now. Other than that, I don’t actively restrict my diet as I never got close to being overweight. My main meals are mostly healthy I’d say, but I do probably consume too much sugar.
The best charity work in terms of bang for the buck is to do what you do for a living but for free. E.g., if you’re a programmer, contribute to an opem source project. If you’re a lawyer, do pro bono work. If you’re a builder, go repair poor people’s houses etc etc.
I would love to use my knowledge that I know how to help people but thw biggest issues is:
Finding who needs that help other than word of mouth and it’s usually people who are lazy (from what I found so far)
Even small stuff requires a bit of money to be able to fix. I’m still paying off my student loans, medical bills, car payment, etc. I can spend about $50-$100 per week to help with small supplies here and there but I’d also like to save up for a house some day.
Wow that’s pretty generous of your employer. What industry are you in if you don’t mind sharing? Just curious as I’ve never heard of a company that is willing to shoulder a year’s worth of salary for their employee to do something else.
He is a visionary, he just wants things to happen and we’re left standing around trying to figure out how to make it work.
We’re a siding construction company. I don’t know if I’m allowed to share it on the site here. But I can send you a link to who we are what what we’re planning to do next year.
When I started here that was a huge selling point for me. They told me about this year off to do community service and I was like, that’s beyond crazy. But as we talked about it each week and started seeing the numbers add up, it’s insane how easy it is to make it happen.
Maybe different in America, but here in Finland I’ve never been asked to pay myself so I could volunteer. And I’ve been in few different places. And I also haven’t needed to provide any kind of CV to do volunteering (nobody has asked for such information).
Sometimes I’m offered free food, free products, free fun time and even one-time payments (they pay me - which I still find strange since I haven’t gotten used to it!).
Regular food items, nothing in particular, though one thing you might notice is I usually skip breakfast. Most of the food are simple items, like raw fruits and vegetables. Not sure how else to describe it.
No, they report to Bing. It caused a stink when “discovered” by the media, but it is part of their licensing agreement with Microsoft to use Bing results.
Their search is fine, but don’t use their browser.
I’m not going to highlight all the phones I’ve ever owned, quite a few were second-hand and didn’t last long.
But I WILL use this opportunity to wax nostalgically over my old Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. It was tiny, the battery lasted for two days easily, water proof and it was bright orange/red.
It was the perfect phone for me and I’ve never seen anything like it again. Sure it was slower and the resolution was nothing spectacular, but it did everything I wanted and it was so easy to carry with me.
I had surgery three weeks back. The mood in the OR was good. As they were strapping me to the table for bone surgery on my femur, ( They were going to have to exert force, and I needed to be on my side), I asked them if tbay had all watched the youtube tutorials. Laughs ensued.
I agree with you on that. HGSS was major improvement on GSC. Plus, it had a pedometer lol
But GSC honestly scratches that itch I get for classic Pokemon in every way. I missed out on the physical/special split so it took me a while to adjust once I started playing Gen 4-6 (haven’t played past 6).
In short, New Coke might be objectively better, but it’s not Coca-Cola Classic lol
