amio, in Do you disable notifications for all your apps?

No, but I tend to disable a bunch of the categories. If it makes it hard to avoid BS/irrelevant/uninteresting/"fake" notifications, notification perms go away, or the whole app does, usually with a free one-star rating. (As if that realistically matters)

BirdObserver, in What are some cool things you can do with Shortcuts on iOS?

I set up a ton of overcomplicated functions to control my home theater. Entirely replaced an old Harmony remote with my phone.

Only real downside (apart from the time sink and occasional Siri weirdness) is that it relies on a couple of apps and one in particular (which I use for changing the input) the dev likes to break on updates.

GreyShuck, in Anyone else no longer remember snoozing their alarm?
@GreyShuck@feddit.uk avatar

I suppose that I have had some kind of alarm with a snooze capability since about 1980. When I first had a clock radio with that option I recall trying it a couple of times, but I have never touched it since. I was just lying there waiting for it to go off again. Nothing in any way restful about that.

Only notifications I want are calls/texts and my security cameras.

I don’t care to know if I got a reply on YouTube, or Lemmy, or a new email. I can always check that stuff at my leisure.

Dedh, in Do you disable notifications for all your apps?

I remove permissions for notifications from all apps that I am able to except for sms/text & phone calls.

Fake4000, in Do you disable notifications for all your apps?

I usually deep sleep all apps that I don’t need to run constantly, and their notifications get disabled along with them.

So really I end up with only the core apps to receive notifications from. Usually apps related to communications.

I usually have a minimum of 8 tabs open, but right now it’s something like 24. I’ve recently gotten into a bad habit of opening tabs & not getting around to them until maybe a week or two, maybe sometimes more. I really need to sort out my tab game & start being more productive…

gravitas_deficiency, in If many extraterrestrial civilizations were nearby but trying to keep quiet, how would you suggest drawing them out?

They’re probably waiting for us to get past the Great Filter.

Three windows, with 7, 4 and 1 tab respectively.

Too many. And I have honestly no idea.

I dunno like 25 in two windows.

OutlierBlue, in How many tabs do you have open?

24, including the one I opened for this thread.

24 is a respectable number. Not too cluttered but still getting things done. Do you keep them on a single window?

OutlierBlue,

Yes, all in one window.

… although you just reminded me I have another tab open in a separate window, and 4 more open in a private window. I’ll close those windows once I stop working on them though.
