Toes, (edited ) in When you AirPlay a show you're streaming to your TV, does the site send it to your Mac's VPN IP or do they get your own IP from the receiving device?

A quick skim of this tells me it’s a bit more complicated than one or the other. nto.github.io/AirPlay

It would appear to me that if you’re doing a traditional casting of the video it’ll not use your VPN. As it just passes through the information needed for the device to fetch the video. Unless everything is configured to use the VPN*

You need a DNS proxy. They work perfectly fine for changing streaming location on AppleTV.

The cheapest option would be to see if your VPN provider has an app or workaround for the appletv to do this.

The more effective option would be to see if your router has a feature to use the VPN and if not use a router that does.

Many “bettter” routers can do this, pfsense can do it.

The problem is that Apple TV may get removed from your local network, meaning you can’t air-play to it at all lol.

Unless your whole network is on the vpn.

I think the shower in my current house is luxurious because it’s large enough that I can turn around without knocking things off the shower caddy.

I bought Reddit Sync years ago and loved it until Reddit shit itself. Had no issues paying for Lemme Sync. Lemme seemed to lost gas recently and I miss the size off the community Reddit has.

Yeah, I miss the size of the reddit community too. But, I found a silver lining with Lemmy’s community, I still get my fix but since it’s not that big it forced me to reduce my intake and now I’m less addicted and used to just opening the “reddit” app as I used to. But also one thing I found useful is to browse the “top six hours” in everything tab.

Same here. Towards the end I was on reddit way too much. Lemmy, I check maybe 5 or so times a day and have a better balance.

The strobe effect is a thing but it really doesn’t impact a lot of people since you know windmills are usually not by apartment buildings. Being very kind to that point of view seeing things that are new can put you out of sorts.

Personally I think they look cool, that doesn’t mean I can’t see other POVs. Still, people will adapt when they get more common and frankly I am not into NIMBY anyway.
