Winter Jacket - KlimI bought my jacket with the intent of never having to purchase another one. After speaking with many friends and the sales people at my local motorcycle/snowmobile shop, the consensus was a snowmobile jacket would last.
I chose Klim and have had this jacket since 2016 with no tears or rips. I did have an issue with the zipper but they replaced the entire zipper for free within the last few months.
I will recommend Klim brand jackets for a forever jacket. They are expensive though.
I pay $13/year for a domain (that gets used across many self-hosted services), and another $6/mo for usenet access (provider + indexer) giving me access to anything I’d want to watch. Between Emby, Ombi, and the 'arr stack; I can open a webpage, search for new content, and click ‘download’; 15min later it’s in the library and ready to watch offline.
Currently sitting on a collection of 3500 movies and 35000 tv episodes that’s ever growing.
For video content? Just YouTube. The rest doesn’t really interest me, I have access to a Netflix account but I haven’t used in in years, to the point where I’ll have to ask my mum what the password is again if I have a reason to use it
Miele, but I think they recently got bought out and enshittified. Their vacuums and dishwashers were built insanely well, sometimes you can still find old stock. They last decades.
Pacsafe backpacks too. Mine has lasted well over a decade. Fuck jansport and all those backpacks that fall apart.
My mom still uses a Miele vacuum that she got gifted by my grandma when my mom moved out. That was almost half a century ago. It’s definitely worth it to check second hand marketplaces for old models
Prime because it’s bundled with free shipping, I can’t remember the last time I opened up the app though.
I recently dropped Disney+ because I wasn’t watching enough to warrant the money. I’m burned out on Marvel and Star Wars.
A video platform for a very specific niche sport that is tough to find in the US. I keep the $5/month subscription year round, even out of season, because I actively want this group to succeed.
I pay $5 a year for dropout even though I don’t watch all of their content enough to probably warrant it some months. I tend to binge D20 and Um, actually mostly. But they’re a good company, making good content, and trying not to exploit anyone in the process. We need more of that and I’ve been lucky enough I can afford the $5 a month sub.
Between me and my husband we have: Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube Premium.
Used to have Optus Sports as well but funnily enough my account didn’t auto renew when it was supposed to. I got transferred 3 times trying to renew my account and still couldn’t get anyone who can charge my card. They don’t seem to want my money so I just stopped.
I can’t claim to represent anyone other than myself. I use an RSS feeder for news, articles, and webcomics. I have some ebooks from the library downloaded. I have been playing an MMO phone game for the last ~year and check on that a couple times a day. Discord. Lemmy has replaced reddit for me but I don’t spend as much time on it as I used to on reddit.
Feedly. I’ve looked around for alts, especially when Feedly started embedding sponsored articles amongst my subscriptions, but haven’t found anything I like better.
I ride the public bus every day, and I can tell you its basically all social media, messaging, YouTube and phone/video calls.
But you don’t have to do the same thing everyone else does. You can play digital card games, chess, read a book, or put your phone in your pocket and listen to podcasts or music. And if you’re not commuting, you can plug your phone in and do actual stuff.
