Back when I lived in Maryland and looking at them after seeing Rick’s, they were going for over $200 and were few and far between. I went as far as to write a letter to Berkeley and ask if he might still have one for sale. ACK! I am excited.
It’s curious to wonder how the characters we all grow fond of in later strips began to get their start. Not that is is Bill at all but knowing how the comics developed I can’t help but want to binge them all now! But I wait, like I did when I was a boy.
Right, I got that from the band name; I just didn’t know if this was a, like, real band, or a band that someone started to parody a band from the comic, or a band that someone formed to pay homage to the comic, etc.
Never a better time now that the community owner is posting them in real time. I’ve got all the books but I’m still planning on following along in syndication pacing.
One of my favorite words is Diagetic. The music is part of the universe you’re observing.
I think this isn’t quite the same as that, since it’s music that is coming out of the universe, and intended to be representative of something inside, but it’s at least related.
Like the musical notation at the end of a Charles de Lint novel. Emergent diagesis.
It’s a rock band of rebels with a death tuba section, from Bloom County. In the universe of the comic, they go on tour and Bill destroys a motel room. They do their best to imitate the greats. They are the vanguard of culture. Thanx for the groovy gams!
