I’ve been running HA for a while, and it’s been working well; I haven’t had to change much in a few months. That being said, it’s fun to tinker with it, and I’m curious to hear what kind of automations the rest of the community is using. What automations are you most proud of? What are your favorite? What kind of...

I currently have a ring doorbell that I pay a yearly fee for but I want to get away from Amazon and a subscription fee. I would prefer if it used the Wi-Fi and it was able to connect with my house doorbell. Edit: I’d also like to add that I would like it to have the ability to stream and record video.
I have a concoction of devices from all kind of manufacturers with cryptic codes in their names. Each device exposes multitude of sensors which makes the dashboard look like a mess....
Just got this email from Haier (US) who seems to be distancing themselves from the EU division’s decision to block Home Assistance....
I’d like to add a smart button to my HA setup. I don’t have zigbee signal nearby, so I’m wondering what the best way to do this would be....
So building new home. Its a small aframe up on the side of a mtn. Don’t need anything fancy like multi zone. Only need on/off with dimming. Buying switches for the main lights and am thinking its one of the following two....
I’m currently running HA on a Pi3… it works fine, but it’s now a single point of failure....
For those of you in the UK, IKEA currently has a steep discount on their GU10 bulbs. I’ve just picked up several dimmable, colour temperature controlled bulbs for £5 each....
We have our house and a cabin. While I guess I could make an area for the cabin, it has it’s own areas that I’d like to manage separately (and copy automations directly)....
Following a few days with all the windows closed (thanks cold weather), I’ve started looking into devices I could integrate for (mainly) Co2 monitoring....
Does anyone know if it’s possible to rewind the video feed, that the Homekit integration provides, from a Apple device?...
I run HA in Docker and I have set up Mosquito MQTT and Zigbee2mqtt in other containers....
We heat our house with oil (grumble grumble grumble) but our float sensor is not a very accurate measure and it’s out of the way to actually see. Has anyone come across a sensor that works with HA and has been reliable? Bonus points for something that still has an “analog” view in case of problem...
Any recommendations for a ZigBee RGB Lightbulb w/o 3rd party app - at least not a closed source app....
I used to have a Hive Home ecosystem until one fateful day where they limited my heating to 15 degrees and tried to freeze me to death unless I bought their newest thermostat and paid for their subscription. I ended up saying fuck the extorting bastards and bought a cheap Zigbee Thermostat to get me through the winter. It’s...
I don’t see that there’s any sort of integration for writing code to process information from HA entities like Node Red + Companion. Am I missing something and this is more than just an interface for the config files and maybe a git client for those config files?
Does anyone know if there are examples like this. I want to get a notification system in HA. It needs to be able to send the right notification at the right time on the right device....
After updating HA last week, I lost access to it. I thought it was the external access, but seems the internal service is having issues....
Hi everyone. I am trying to repurpose an old Vero 4K+ that i have laying around. It is a Linux machine running Debian 11 bullseye, but I might need some help i am afraid....
I’m in the process of building a custom terrarium that will eventually house a leopard gecko. I’m looking for some small, inexpensive devices to monitor temperature and humidity in the tank via Home Assistant so I can set up some alerts. Any recommendations?
So I am looking to get precense detection in my living room. I think I want mmwave as I do want to detect people that are sitting on the couch for example. And I saw most don’t have a large distance and angle as my living room/kitchen is 8m by 12m(in an L shape) so most with a 4-6m detection distance are not enough. Also...
Are there any good recommendations for water control valves? I want to control a automatic watering system and need something to attach to the garden tap. Open firmware would be a bonus.
