Garum, obviously. Ave, Imperator!

ExLisper, (edited )

There’s a company claiming that they analyzed rests of garum found in some ancient vase and reconstructed the recipe. You can now buy Garum supposedly same as the Roman one. www.amazon.com/…/B07CRMQZP5

I don’t know if I’d actually be brave enough to try it, but I’m tempted.

ExLisper,

I think it’s just like soy sauce, only fishy.

iain,

So fish sauce? That’s actually very tasty! A little splash improves any savory/salty dish.

zerofk,

Good rice, well prepared, needs no sauce. Ketchup wouldn’t even enter my mind.

Treczoks,

Do you really believe that people who have sunken so low that they consider ketchup would have either used good rice or would know how to prepare it properly?

Clashing_branes,

KEWPIE Deep-Roasted Sesame Dressing and Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce

This combo hits all the right flavor notes.

Rosco,

salted butter

MuhammadJesusGaySex,

Rice seasoning and soy sauce.

Jeanschyso,

Salt may not be sauce, but it’s the only answer

Anus? Or?

It rhymes…

FlembleFabber,

Garlic sauce and sambal oelek

Sweet chili or Tonkatsu.

I’m probably going to be slaughtered by an angry mob for mentioning this, but pesto also works.

Can’t believe no one’s said spritz of lemon juice yet. That was my go to as a kid.

Bruce_Wayne,

Lemon juice and Sriracha is also amazing

Rice is perfect. I’m not putting anything on it.

Just recently I ate rice with some sweet soy sauce, kewpie mayo, and spicy chili sauce. The chili sauce can be replaced with some ketchup instead if it’s out.

EmergMemeHologram,

I like a more traditional Asian taste, so crunchy peanut butter with mayonnaise melted into it to create a saucy texture.

What the fuck

EmergMemeHologram,

It’s basically pad Thai.

WelcomeBear,
scottywh,

Well thanks for letting me know I should never consider trying that.

ransomwarelettuce,

With egg fried rice I see no problem with such proposition.
