Resol, Oh no, now I have to deal with listening to timpani noises every now and then.
Everyone, get ready to downvote.
crystalmerchant, Oh, I get it!*
*No I don’t
Resol, There’s an earlier reply that I responded to that explains everything.
Thcdenton, Wait, I’m confused
Resol, I hear this instrument all the time in many Disney related things. Not all.
And it’s my least favorite instrument. I actually mean that.
Thcdenton, Don’t forget the cymbals and trupet fanfares. Fuck my life I hate disneyland.
Resol, Cymbals are fine for me, as long as they’re used in a regular ol’ drum set, you know, the one used in rock and metal music and whatnot.
Trumpets sound best in jazz music imo.
art, I used to work at Disneyland. The “disney adult” meme doesn’t seem to stack up with reality.
rickyrigatoni, Is it better or worse in reality?
art, Disney adults are just nerds. Almost all of them have been chill.
JackbyDev, They’re definitely cringe, but there is a healthy dose of self awareness usually. Also, like any group, some will be “karens” and they give the group a bad name.
INHALE_VEGETABLES, What about the ones who were not chill?
Vespair, (edited ) Disney adults are a bit lame, yeah, but I swear they have nothing on the demographic that truly deserves the crown for lamest and most cringe but somehow flies under the radar:
Harry Potter adults
And for the record, people are allowed to be lame. It doesn’t make them bad, it just makes them lame. I’ll defend their right to be lame forever, but it’s also okay to tease them lightly about it, so long as it stays good-natured. Don’t take life so serious.
cerulean_blue, SILENCIO
Surp, (edited ) Nah Disney adults are the fucking worst. At least Harry potter people fucking die and get tortured and the story’s are cool. Mickey mouse is just a cunt rat that was racist years ago. Fuck Disney
Vespair, Harry Potter is just “baby’s first fantasy series” with no substance and every dollar spent on HP merch goes to supporting an active and living TERF who takes monetary gains as implicit support
AbsoluteChicagoDog, How about we let people enjoy what they enjoy without shaming them?
Sorgan71, Because, disney adults need to be shamed.
Theharpyeagle, Why?
pinkdrunkenelephants, Because he lost his joy at some point in his life and Disney adults remind him of what he lost, which angers him
Thcdenton, Pretty sure I’d end up in prison.
15liam20, In Disney prison, Goofy is the guard.
Thcdenton,
numberfour002, I think I have Disney PTSD from a former friend/acquaintance who had an almost supernatural ability to make any conversation into a conversation about Disney. So, now I’m super sensitive about it. Would almost rather a conversation start with “Have you heard about our Lord and savior Jesus Christ” than anything that includes the word “Disney”.
awwwyissss, Yeah, I just start mentally checking out when someone talks sincerely about religion or Disney.
RememberTheApollo_, TBF a there’s a lot of crossover between Disney and the religious. Disney is seen as whloesome and safe, and that may be true to a point, but it’s also just a furtherance of the conformity and exclusion of reality that the religious expect. Disney is militant on image and making sure the parks conform to their corporate rule. The religious love that.
jenny_ball, this is really true
ElBarto, Have you hear about our Lord and saviour Mickey Mouse?
meyotch, Mormons in my experience have jumbled their ‘religion’ with Disney so hard they cannot tell them apart. The latest demonization of Disney by the god-botherers has caused some distinct cognitive dissonance among my faithful extended family.
crystalmerchant, (edited ) I am exmormon and I see my bitch SIL in this comment and I don’t like it one leetle bit.
And guess which family is planning next year’s family reunion? And guess where they’re going to have it?
HikingVet, This is a person who never had someone hit them in any real manner. I hope there is a parent there who is just looking for an excuse.
VonCesaw, Acting violent to those you find mildly annoying is an actual disorder (intermittent anger disorder), I’d get it checked out before you end up doing time my brother
HikingVet, (edited ) I’ll take the hate on what I said. People saying they are going to push kids are in my experience more likely to cause harm then me wanting them to face consequences
And unless you have a degree realted to mental health, I don’t need your armchair diagnosis of misreading of my comment.
TimeNaan, I’m pretty sure the caption is a joke.
HikingVet, (edited ) Either way, wishing consequences isn’t “acting violent”.
VonCesaw, Responding to simple assault that doesn’t involve you with assault and battery IS acting violent
HikingVet, Except in the defence of others.
VonCesaw, 99% sure that ‘others’ would prefer it be done by somebody that is trained, officiated, and legally responsible for their actions rather than watch some self-proclaimed vigilante justice dealer attack someone else
HikingVet, I see you decrying all I’ve said, but you’ve yet to address the fact that she said she was gonna push kids. So, give me a reason why I shouldn’t want her to face consequences? And calling the cops is inviting lethal force into the mix.
VonCesaw, Disney has security guards. Disney has security cameras. Disney has jurisdiction to have people removed from the park. Disney has the right to have people charged with crimes they committed (with evidence from previously mentioned guards and cameras). Disney does not need people to do their job for them, they can literally handle it themselves.
LemmysMum, It’s not about Disney, it’s about improving society. Disney’s jurisdiction ends at the gate, people like this need to know a lesson can be taught anywhere by anyone.
VonCesaw, easy there Frank Castle
HikingVet, Yeah, at this point I’d feel more comfortable sitting next Cpt. Castle than you.
VonCesaw, I mean, fully rejecting empathetic governance in favor of pseudodictitorial violent threat by violence doers is one way to look at things. It even lead to the fastest growing (and shortest lived) empires of the 20th century!
HikingVet, Like not dealing with entitled adults? Be empathetic as much as you want, but sometimes you gotta realise some people don’t learn unless they come up against it. And those people usually think they can push kids.
VonCesaw, Thats why there’s a thing called the legal system, where they use (mostly) legitimate authority to fairly prosecute people in a way that respects their rights
Some thug walking around attempting to be judge, jury, and jailhouse yard all at once because someone did something they dislike is some Mad Max Spaghetti Western garbage
HerrVorragend, I like how that one pillar of the building could be mistaken for drool.
Very fitting.
crystalmerchant, I don’t get it pls halp
Rognaut, Absolute worst place on earth. It’s extortion to adults, brainwashing to kids.
Pissnpink, Edgy
dingus, (edited ) Maybe a hot take, but I actually DO get why even adults like the theming of Disney World/land and like to visit it so much. The theming is just so intricately done that it’s honestly very impressive and great to look at and just take in. When you hear about the way some of these art pieces were designed it just makes it that much more amazing imo.
But why are some of these people obsessed with the people in costumes that are clearly meant for toddlers? I don’t marvel at some sweaty tween in a weird furry costume. I don’t get it.
originalucifer, (edited ) ive met some disney fanatics. everyone has their thing, some people are just really into that thing.
im happy theyre happy, but i also think we should just give them florida so we dont really have to be exposed to.. their thing.
PaupersSerenade, I used to work at the parks and loved just hanging out. There’s a lot of work that went into forced perspective and theming. Disney has always leaned hard into escapism, and it’s easy to see why someone would want to be reminded of easier years.
AlligatorBlizzard, Oh, hey, I worked attractions and merchandise at DAK back in 2008-2014 with a few gaps in there. And same, it was nice to just chill in the parks. Did you get to do any of the cast backstage tours? I got to go on one to the Haunted Mansion, that was really cool to see.
PaupersSerenade, I was attractions at DCA around that time frame as well! Got to do a track walk of Indy, previewed changed attractions, and got to do Tower of Terror no-show rides when I was closing.
AlligatorBlizzard, I got to do a track walk of Dinosaur too, did you know that Dinosaur is just a re-themed Indy? They pointed out where the boulder would be on the other ride during the walkthrough. Disney did not put much effort into Dinoland at all, lol.
LillyPip, (edited ) Agreed.
Also, if an adult enjoys cartoons and sleeps with a plushie, I am not going to judge. Life is hard. Whatever it takes to get through the day, you do you.
IMO, telling people their benign coping mechanism is bad is how we get more shootings. Clutch that plushie, my dude!
MrJameGumb, Will I be the only man on the bus? If so this is getting dangerously close to one of my biggest fantasies… Don’t judge me
STRIKINGdebate2, You don’t want to have sex with a Disney adult. You just don’t. I actually know several of them irl. They always end up being overly childish and not in a cute way.
MrJameGumb, Oh, I definitely want to, I just probably shouldn’t for the reasons you said lol
digger, Joke’s on you, I’m into that shit.
Honytawk, I just want to hyuck you in my Goofy costume
wellee, As someone who’s parents couldn’t afford shipping us halfway across the country then paying for Disneyland, i’d love to go as an adult.
Bathtubwalrus, That doesn’t make you a weirdo, that’s pretty normal. The weird Disney adults are the ones that have been to Disney A LOT and are obsessed with it. When I lived in FL I had a coworker that would drive like 2 hrs each way to go to Disney multiple times a week! She wasted all her money on Disney shit, and it was 50% of anything she talked about. Her husband even got a job there so they could be “more involved”. Those are the weirdos.
Xatix,
teamevil, Slow down Satan
harry_balzac, I’d just lock myself in the bathroom and let the fumes take me.
