I just did my switch from windows (still dual boot tho) I chosw popos! Mainly because I have no clue what I am doing. It has been somehow better and worse then I expected My goal is to daily it as long as it takes me to figure out whats going on :D
I wanna ditch the unFFOS and be in control of all of my os, not just where the big companies that make it want me to be in control. I pay quite a few fees to live commercial free, and now they are using my login splashscreen to offload Xbox game pass… Also, how about some banners about office365 in your start menu? I paid for this os, you bunch of potatopeels! I Tried Ubuntu back in the day, around 10 years ago and it was fine (except for gaming), but I hear everyone here is pretty stoked about Mint for starters, so I’ll start there.
Also recently bought Ableton Live because LMMS is not capable enough. You win some you lose some
Reminds me of an interview i was in. I was like, this isn’t even in my job description… 7 interviews later. Come to find out, they were HAND DEPLOYING Linux servers to try to scale for double of their user base. I feel like I dodged a bullet.
So when I was in the interview, you know, typically you answer questions, right? I mean there’s some back and forth, but typically you’re on the end of the stick.
It was Zello. They wanted someone to continue manual deployment. Are you fucking kidding me? Read the reviews. They are all consistent with a good product and an outdated infrastructure team.
It’s nice to use though. I recently set up 2 VMs to act as Docker servers, one of which was Alpine (the other NixOS, as a learning project). It’s dead simple to set up and use. I was pleasantly surprised at how little I had to get used to considering musl + lack of systemd.
I use xfce nice clean simple and not overly complicated everytime I try a new desktop manager I find myself going back to xfce as they say keep it simple and cozy
How is XFCE nowadays? I am on KDE for the past ~3 years and been long-term XFCE user.
IMO biggest KDE advantage over XFCE is that everything literally works out of the box - audio, bluetooth, shortcuts (i hate setting up script yo turn on/off mousepad.
