They don’t have to make a Linux version. Wine is a program that allows you to run windows programs on Linux. The reason it doesn’t work with fortnite is because fortnite anticheat blocks it. In order to let Linux users (including steam decks) play fortnite, they just have to change an anticheat setting not to block Wine. Fortnite uses battleye and eac, both of which have wine support
The one I had was completely minor. The wifi on my NUC doesn't work if you use the proprietary driver but it does work with whatever the kernel for Mint 21.2 has in it.
It’s not so bad if you’re running a major distro kernel and they do some prerelease testing before cutting new kernel packages. But if you’re using the latest release from the kernel.org stable tree WiFi driver regressions happen somewhat regularly.
10-15 years ago, it was a problem dire enough to drive me back to windows until about the start of the pando, and I've not even thought about Wi-Fi drivers since coming back to Linux.
I did have issues with a cheap USB Wi-Fi dongle thing a few years back, but that was likely the fault of the dongle more than anything else, I know because it didn't really work under widows either.
But the dude is programming with the Communist devil so he is the one doing the communism! They need a windows toting jesus to surf in with sunglasses and a guitar or something
I’m a Mint Cinnamon user, and to me, Mint Cinnamon is a typical drip machine with a built in timer and some nice extra features. It’s a bit fancier than Debian but still simple and reliable to use.
Everybody hates arch for no good reason, I’m so sick of seeing these ancient /g/ memes. The Linux community should have better things to do than shit on one of the most secure distros. Like, y’all realize backdoors are built into motherboards nowadays right? So sure, we need to be even more zealous, serious and loud if anything, but the infighting? The infighting is fucking childish.
They’re not hating on Arch, they’re “hating” on the small (but loud) group of people who have a superiority complex for just running Arch and doing it the manual way (and tends to see those who installed with archinstall as a cop-out).
Just like the people who shit on those for using Windows.
True! Any hacker that wants into a system and has the skills will usually find a way in. I do my best to set up firewalls and encrypt important stuff but even that wouldn’t be enough if I was seriously targeted personally. I know that.
