ninjan, in When Israel starts ripping off Futurama in a very bad and disgusting taste

Quite a lot of adult cartoons have a violent Santa. South Park, Family Guy, American Dad have all had Santa with a gun episodes.

I once attempted to make a meme for Streisand effect victims, never quite caught on. https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/939ff71a-7989-4201-b19b-aa0e80f12a36.png

He was one of my favorite characters actually. Kinda sad.

andthenthreemore,

He’s such a good character in the show. Such a rubbish character in the books.

tjhart85,
@tjhart85@kbin.social avatar

I love when that happens though!

It's similar to Cara Gee being so awesome to work with that she wound up taking the place of like 5 book characters. Ty and Wes both rave about her every chance they get in the podcast. IIRC they've talked about Ashfords actor being fantastic to work with too.

Yewb, in Intel is investing 25 Billion dollars into Israel. That is the biggest investment any company has ever made to Israel.

That seems like a brilliant idea lets invest into a country that is surrounded by people who hate them!

Actually isreal gave them 3 billion and that money is front loaded to infustructure costs im sure, intels "investment" is intel promising to spend 16 billion on Isreal goods and services over 10 years wink wink

idiocracy,

and despite that Israel is one of the most technologically advanced in the world. if anything, u should b impressed.

NoneOfUrBusiness,

I'm impressed at your lack of shame, if anything.

@bartolomeo@suppo.fi avatar
  1. Ewww, gross
  2. Why not invest in the US? This is not a political comment, I want to know the reason. Does Israel have weak labor laws or access to slave labor, or some other method to maximize profits?
  3. Given Israel’s cyberterrorism and hacking/spyware industry, what is the benefit of producing foundational hardware for computer systems and networks in Israel? Is it Intel’s new “Pegasus™ ready” line of chips?
NoneOfUrBusiness, (edited )

I mean the big reason is probably that Israel literally gave them money for it, but yeah they also have cheap Palestinian labor because it's totally not apartheid state.

So is this why kids growing up would drench themselves in Ax?

corsicanguppy,

Thank you for spelling it correctly.

Maven,

The body spray is Axe. And both spellings are accepted for the tool, with axe being the common spelling and ax being the american, so it’s not a matter of correct or not.

Back when Reddit was fun there was a very small sub called r/alot. It imagined that alot was a mythical beast and whatever word came before alot in the sentence was an adjective describing it. The guy artist who created the sub would then draw a new “alot beast” for every post. I miss old Reddit sometimes.

Allie Brosh was on Reddit back in the day. If the drawing style looks familiar, then she might have run a sub for a while before stepping back from the internet.

Were hearts a symbol even back in ancient japan? Didn’t know they were around for so long

usualsuspect191,

Apparently so, although it seems to have a separate history and meaning from other historical uses. From Wikipedia:

Since ancient times in Japan, the heart symbol has been called Inome (猪目), meaning the eye of a wild boar, and it has the meaning of warding off evil spirits. The decorations are used to decorate Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples, castles, and weapons.

520, (edited ) in Lemmy might, MIGHT have a small bias towards the left

The problem there is the same as that of idealised communism, you're relying on humans to do what they typically don't do. Humans will take for themselves at the cost of communities if they feel they can get away with it, including the ones in government.

KepBen,

Capitalism is literally predicated on “you should take for yourself at any cost” and does everything in its power to limit anything that might bring consequences.
