It was still a better plan than the ottoman empire had before Britain took it from them.

cyclohexane,

Yeah, genocide turned out to be much better alternative right?

Either way, the Ottoman empire was on its way out, and the Arabs sought to establish a United state. So whatever the ottomans were doing is irrelevant.

MildlyArdvark,

I guess technically ww1 wasn’t even over.

Haagel,

Lol at all of the wannabe thirteen year old edgleords on lemmy who are so confident that they understand this extremely complicated and protracted conflict such that they can reduce it to a single generic cause but can’t even be bothered to look up which of the two world wars is the correct one to reference for their edgy meme.

UrPartnerInCrime,
@UrPartnerInCrime@sh.itjust.works avatar

Lol you’re as dumb as you are a jerk

ryathal,

It’s not that complicated, the land in question has been owned by a conquering empire for the better part of two millenia. After WWII and emipres falling out of favor, splitting it up was decided. The locals didn’t like the jews getting a country and attacked, they lost. They mobilized for round two, and Israel hit first and won again. Since then Israel started giving back land it seized to the respective countries, in exchange for not attacking again. The region has been at an uneasy truce for 50ish years other than Palestine launching terrorist attacks every few years.

tryptaminev,

Yeah sure. There is absolutely no pattern of former colonizers creating structures that lead to tensions and violence as they leave. Destabilizing entire regions would never be in the interest of receding former global powers or in the interest of current global powers. They all want all the humans in the world to love each other and live in peace and harmony.

Also Britain: Oh good, the UN voted in favor of splitting up the land except the entire Arab League voting against the plan? Ok, sounds good, bye guys, have fun!

Microw,

Also Britain: our troops and colonial administrators are getting killed and attacked by both groups of locals, bye guys, I’m noping out of here!

It's like an HOA: The council is deciding how to divide up your backyard between your neighbors. The lawn owner is the only dissenting vote and then the neighborhood wonders why they are being so hostile.

Bipta,

Except in this case it costs you not just your backyard but basically your entire life.

ryathal,

In this case the land owner has been renting for 100 years and doesn’t really care what the tenant thinks.

Ranger, in Buying a new car is not better than keeping an old one

Economical retrofit kits for legacy vehicles would help reduce manufacturing pollution & reduce vehicle emissions, if carbine free electricity production is increased.

CADmonkey,

Ford and GM both sell electric “crate motors” for classic cars to switch them over to electric.

Cort,

Not direct to consumer though. You’d have to go to a specialty shop and pay them for labor and whatever markup they think the market can bear. Point being, it’s not really economical to do on a large scale.

CADmonkey,
jelloeater85,
@jelloeater85@lemmy.world avatar

The problem is it’s fundamentally changing the source of energy in a car. Even if you ripped out the motor and replaced it with an electric motor and battery Bank there would still be a whole fundamental sleuth of systems that would be missing inside the car. I think I better solution might be to look into converting cars to hydrogen instead.

Also feel free to ignore anything I just said I’m not no automotive engineer, just a nerd who used to tinker with cars when he was younger 😅

MrSqueezles,

Yeah, that’s the real problem. I wish hydrogen helped. Fuel cells and hydrogen are another way to store and release electricity, like batteries. Switching a car from gas to battery is a tricky proposition. Since they require more components to achieve the same result, delivering electricity to an electric motor, fuel cells would compound that problem.

Malfeasant,

Hydrogen is not an energy source, it is a means of energy storage, and a pretty bad one at that.

Cort,

Also, it’s primarily made using methane steam reformation, which releases co2.

If you want to go that route I think you should look more towards bikes and less towards cars.

the_Coffin_Seller,
@the_Coffin_Seller@lemmy.world avatar

If I remember correctly in this particular case Alex Jones was right - which is a very very weird thing to write to be honest.

Here is a deep dive by Oki’s weird stories

and his Interview with Tyrone Hayes

I despise Alex Jones He is a sad fart of a human being and I hate that it seems in his career of obscene, hurtful and dumb conspiracy shit there is one thing that he got actually right. Apes on a typewriter.

JusticeForPorygon,
@JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

He was kinda right. IIRC there was a study done that found that fluoride may have caused a slight increase in estrogen levels in male frogs, but I don’t think it was significant enough to effect their behavior

the_Coffin_Seller,
@the_Coffin_Seller@lemmy.world avatar

You’re right I should have said there is only a small amount of truth in his comment. I remember watching oki’s deep dive and the beginning kinda stuck in my head where he himself said that he doesn’t like the fact alex jones was correct on something

Franzia,

Sad fart. Who is a happy fart of a human?
