To be fair, the isolation stuff was mostly at the beginning when the exodus started, but I couldn't blame people for leaving when that started. Some people just want to be where everyone is.
I can't say I've experienced much issue with federation since the early times, but then again I wouldn't know what it looks like on the Lemmy side.
I’m not referring to the intentional disabling of federation, but that kbin has had technical issues even after that which has made federation to and from lemmy instances intermittent.
I was on kbin when I first ditched Reddit, but boost coming out for Lemmy got me to switch. The mobile site for kbin is ok but nothing compared to a mostly fleshed out app. Also, like the other guy said the federation wasn’t always there.
Personally I like the interface for Kbin. It has many of the features you want in modern forums, but retains a look reminiscent of older style forums. Though I can see it wouldn't be for everyone.
Ah, the great isolation. Was a funny time everyone wondering why they could only see Kbin content haha
I doesn’t matter which platform is a users point of contact. I don’t think a lot of users miss the point that “fediverse” refers to all the platforms their platforms communicate with, together. Not just their platform.
Maybe. Or, like most users, they are aware that “fediverse” refers to the ActivityPub network as a whole, as well as adjacent networks such as matrix and diaspora.
When I say fediverse, I don’t mean Lemmy. If I want to refer to the part of the fediverse we are using, Lemmy/Kbin, I say threadiverse. It’s just one corner of the network.
I have no interest in the twitter format for social media, but people who do and enjoy mastodon, have just as much right to be excited about federation and what it can do for social media.
What I don’t understand, is why make this meme? Neither Lemmy nor Mastodon, is “the fediverse”. Only together, do they become a “universe” of federated instances, and even disparate platforms, which yet interoperate.
A Mastodon user who says they love the fediverse, likely loves it for the same reasons a Lemmy, Kbin, Friendica, Pixelfed, or MissKey user does. Where’s the joke?
With this post I just described some people I’ve met on my journey through fediverse that were saying that they love fediverse meaning by it only Mastodon, as if it’s the only platform out there. It’s a small number of people, that don’t affect anything. Of course after spending more time on fediverse they find out about other platforms(and that’s good). The point of the meme is just to make a little fun of them, nothing offensive.
It’s just more fedora-tipping condescension that keeps “normal” people from embracing things like Lemmy and Mastodon (or Kbin or Pixelfed or…). If we could all stop huffing the farts out of each others’ FOSS-holes and be a little kinder to people dipping a toe into these alternate networks, maybe we’d have more than 5 comments on a post.
TNT has nothing to do with dynamite or Nobel. It was discovered years before dynamite was invented, however it wasn’t used as an explosive at first. And dynamite is just a mostly stable preparation of nitroglycerin. Nobel didn’t discover any new explosive compounds, he literally just mixed stuff with nitro.
It was my language settings, German was turned off and therefore filtered out. You can not change or access them in the app interface hence my extra confusion besides this stupid way of handling language.
Hey guys, did you know that in terms of human companionship, Flareon is objectively the most huggable Pokemon? While their maximum temperature is likely too much for most, they are capable of controlling it, so they can set themselves to the perfect temperature for you. Along with that, they have a lot of fluff, making them undeniably incredibly soft to touch. But that’s not all, they have a very respectable special defense stat of 110, which means that they are likely very calm and resistant to emotional damage. Because of this, if you have a bad day, you can vent to it while hugging it, and it won’t mind. It can make itself even more endearing with moves like Charm and Baby Doll Eyes, ensuring that you never have a prolonged bout of depression ever again.
It’s… a link to the news story. If you bothered to click it instead of bitching about not getting a different link, you’d already have what you’re asking for.
News channels have been using YouTube to upload clips and segments for many many years now. But you probably don’t like YouTube because it’s big bad to folk like you.
yeah, so it’s a link to Inside Edition, which is the longest-running syndicated news program and has been running since 1989 and is currently syndicated by CBS.
You can verify it’s the same channel as their official channel because Inside Edition’s website (www.insideedition.com see YT link in top-left corner) links directly to it.
It’s not especially highly rated as TV news, saw it described as “the fast food of TV news,” but I didn’t see anything that described it as substantially non-factual.
They can't answer that, because the source was never the issue, they never even clicked through to see what the source was. Them being a bootlicker who can't help but jump to the defence of and make excuses for the pigs is the only reason for this thread..
Relative to the mantle it stopped spinning! Like when the earth spins around itself in 24 hours it’s the mantle spinning. Now the core takes 24 hours to spin around itself, while it used to take like 23:50.
It’s like if you’re in a car on the highway and you’re going 80 and someone next to you is going 82 and then suddenly 80 and you assume that they are parking.
Meh. It was a decent way to make nitroglycerin less unstable, but there are so many better, safer explosives. TNT, for example, is stable enough to be melted down and cast into shells. C4 burns like a candle and won’t detonate without a blasting cap.
Dynamite tends to “sweat” nitroglycerin over time, and then the slightest amount of heat, friction, or impact can cause it to detonate.
Well, I think in this instance, European swallows seen more likely given the distance, but either way, we’d probably need to consider them laden swallows for the purpose of our calculations…
