It was super high to start with. I’ve read Vetsulin only lasts 8 hours and I wanted to see how it changes throughout the day. Usually prick him before the shot to get an idea of how much to give him.
I bought one myself. He’s been on Vetsulin for 3 months and still drinking water like crazy. I’ve heard Lantus is better but I have a vial of Vetsulin to use up so I want to better monitor him.
The three diabetics I’ve cared for were all best controlled with a combination of diet and Levemir. Fancy Feast pate-style and no dry food; no need for “special” (read “way overpriced” food).
Check with Diabetic Cats in Need about the best ways to source Levemir or Lantus. I used to live in the Detroit area and just drove to Canada for it where it is over-the-counter and less expensive…
I see, it seems to be “porcine insulin zinc suspension”, which I think used to be used in humans but isn’t any longer. I thought perhaps it might be Levemir or NPH. Lantus is definitely pretty good… not just for cats, I have T1 so I’ve tried various insulins. It’s quite stable over 24 hours.
Huh. Apparently I’ve driven both a bunch of times without realizing they were the “loneliest” roads. They didn’t feel any different than normal highways around there, and there were plenty of other cars. It’s it just because of lack of services?
If you’re going to post this video to 8 different communities at least add a context. Why are you sharing it? What is it? What’s the significance? Seems like a lot of work to just get a bunch of downvotes
