How is it? Does it compare to LMMS?

dojan, in GustavoASantos/Noti: Quick glance, clear progress
@dojan@lemmy.world avatar

Conceptually this is really cool, but the hole punch is oddly misaligned on my Pixel 6, so I can’t imagine it looking good.

It’s such a small tweak but I love it!

Get this on fdroid! :)

sag,
@sag@lemy.lol avatar

Thinking about this. I will open a issue on repo tommorow.

optissima,

Issue created!

optissima, in GustavoASantos/Noti: Quick glance, clear progress

Only available on Google Play, why bother…

sag,
@sag@lemy.lol avatar

Build the app from source. It take me just half a hour to download android-sdk other tool to build.

optissima,

Yep, I really want to fight android SDK again. Just release it on fdroid like other open source projects.

dog_,

Or be nicer.

optissima,

That has nothing to do with the topic, you’re right, I could’ve put it more nicely. I’m just tired of “compile it yourself” to people without computers being considered an appropriate answer for a criticism of bad distribution. This app seems wonderfully useful and could have huge popularity, but it’s being artificially gatekept by the creator.

dog_, (edited )

It’s not being gatekept, they’re saying that as an alternative. They said they would release it on F-Droid tomorrow.

Edit: or… Create an issue on the GitHub repo, idk.

Edit2: Never mind

Hexarei,

Wow, the entitlement of “I don’t want to do things myself, do extra work for me instead”.

optissima,

Wow the entitlement of “I refuse to understand that not everyone has a computer and can do this”

thejevans,
@thejevans@lemmy.ml avatar

That is an entirely unreasonable suggestion from a security perspective.

xoggy, in URLCheck like program for PC (windows =\ )?

What exactly are you removing from urls? It sounds like you need a tailored script that does a simple string replacement for you.

RovingFox,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

I don’t think that would cover it. URLchecker acts as a default browser. When you click on a link it will let you if it will redirect you and where, if it has trackers in the link, you can also send the link for a quick virus scan.

Those are just the common uses, It has more features.

morrowind, in Can i change the calendar layout in Evolution mail?
@morrowind@lemmy.ml avatar

Wait you can get a horizontal view in outlook? I’ve been looking for years for an app with horizontal calendar. How do you do it?

kylian0087, (edited )

that is the default for the calendar in outlook… From left to right. For the week that is not the month view

morrowind,
@morrowind@lemmy.ml avatar
kylian0087, (edited )

This is horizontal view. Days go from left to right. This is how i want to make it look in evolution mail.

I use TiddlyWiki via TiddlyPWA. It's an offline-capable PWA with a very quick sync capability. It works beautifully on my phone and desktop. It doesn't have folders, but it does have nestable tags, which works really well for me. I don't think it supports markdown out of the box, but I'm positive you can find a plugin for it. Plugins are crazy simple to install; you just drag and drop a link into you wiki tab and confirm installation.

Atemu, in FOSS Miracast/WiDi receiver for Android TV?
@Atemu@lemmy.ml avatar

Not what you’re asking for but a potential solution: Your TV itself might support Miracast.

Imonobor,
@Imonobor@lemmy.world avatar

This is actually something I haven’t thought of. I’ll check it as soon as they deliver it. :D Although wouldn’t switching between HDMI input and miracast be janky, or does it happen automatically?

9tr6gyp3,

Miracast typically takes priority. It will ask for permission to allow it to display. It will then return to your previous input once the wireless display is disconnected.

GardenVarietyAnxiety, in Release Stargate DAW 24.01.1

Indeed.

rufus, (edited ) in Is my 'smart' thermostat violating the GPL?

Not necessarily. There are other operating systems and frameworks for embedded devices. Especially for commercial products. It doesn’t have to be something like Linux and GPL code.

en.wikipedia.org/…/Comparison_of_real-time_operat…

This is a list of many other choices with many of them having non-copyleft licenses. And a thermostat is a comparatively simple device. They could also have implemented most things themselves and just taken a network-stack to connect it to the outside world. (I think network is something that is very complex and companies just buy a solution instead of writing all of that code.)

lemann, in FOSS Miracast/WiDi receiver for Android TV?

It requires hardware support, and isn’t a feature you can implement or initiate within an android app.

If you can reach the maintainer for that TV box’s lineage ROM, they may be able to have a look at it
