Imo this is why big projects that are borderline like this should use github alternatives, preferably self hosted solutions. This was always going to happen.
Now, you can’t perma-crack your new PC with a “real” HWID key, then years later reinstall Windows and keep your “real” license anymore! And you can’t upgrade anymore on that new PC either! You have to patch Windows every time!
Unless you are on a private tracker that have seed ratio requirements, there is zero obligation to hold onto a torrent until you have a 1:1 ratio. Its only a recommendation, and very much an “Honor Among Thieves” situation.
Feel free to delete the wrong torrent and re-download the right one. If you feel bad about it, keep the right one until a 2:1 ratio so you maintain balance in the world. :)
I only pirate because it is more convenient than any alternative.
The best example I experienced was when I tried to watch an apple tv original show with my cousin (who has family access to the service). He wanted to log in to his account on my laptop and needed to verify his dad’s credit card to do so. No problem, but it took a while. After that we still couldn’t watch, because the player didn’t load the video for some reason. Cue my cousin fiddling about trying to fix the issue.
In the meantime I had started to download the first two episodes and copied it on a thumb drive.
Not everyone on the internet lives in western countries with 1gb fibre connections, hell remote parts of the US are still stuck on very slow ADSL if they don’t have access to starlink.
Your seeder may be in ButtFucke WY or could be in a little village in Phillipines or Nigeria
Maybe not what you’re looking for, but fanedits are that thing to me. No body will ever see them on any streaming service or in a DVD bin at the store. They’re like treasures I can share only with other people who truly love movies as much as I do.
Also, I have the original special edition slip-case DVD of Dogma, which currently goes for as high as $19.95 on eBay!
