I use mega.nz. £50 a year for 400GB and it's encrypted with your private key. The Linux support is really good with a nice sync, file browser extension, access via web etc.
I‘ve been using Kagi since September as well and I can only recommend giving it a try.
Being able to personalize search rankings is something I definitely wouldn‘t want to miss anymore.
One thing I’d like to mention is that they‘re also really great at listening to feedback. For example, they recently added an indicator for potentially paywalled sites to the search results, because users have suggested it.
I have often wondered if you can take an android phone, drill and rip out all the sensors and radio transmitters, and use wired Ethernet through a VPN router and still be able to use just banking apps as that seems to be one thing I keep a proprietary phone around for.
Edit: I forgot the speaker and the mic though the mic could be classed as a sensor
Would an encrypted backup using something like Crytomator or Rsync fit your needs? It would allow you to use the cheaper cloud services without letting them see the content of your files.
Yes, please. I’m still using MessagEase. I want to like thumbkey, but it’s missing a few features that are already implemented in MessagEase. Long pressing for numerals is another feature I miss.
Hey, thumb-key is really cool! I’ve been using it for a bit and it has solved my issue of constantly fat-fingering wrong letters into what I’m trying to type on other keyboards. I just want to say thanks for developing it and keep up the good work!
So this is definitely not for everyone but Thumb-Key is privacy friendly and designed to be used with just one thumb. I have used Thumb-Key (and it’s predecessor Message Ease) for about 4 years now and they are way easier for me than qwerty, there are fewer buttons so typos are less frequent and you can access all letter/numbers/punctuation while holding your phone one handed.
