Also keep in mind those older trees were much stronger than modern lumber since it was old growth.

How does this work? I’ve never heard of this. If it was significantly stronger wouldn’t they still produce it today, for specific uses?

Don’t you think that, however small, some action must take form?

When I was small there were two conflicts that dividend public opinion and were sure to last centuries, those bring the Israel-Palestine conflict and the Irish one.

I think that disengaging the murder spiral makes things better. Both the resentment of the Israeli youth against their more and more fascist government was an incredibly worthwhile step.

Hamas and Likud alle don’t like any two state proposals, that’s why this is happening.

Yeah I know, I was being a bit obtuse on propose. CS is pretty much gold standard of a value generating non-p2w successful competitive game.

However it does have some weapons that are considered non viable in comparative unless the balance changes or the meta does (krieg Fi).

It’s just impossible to make a game that has a choice of strategies, in which every choice is as competitive as the other.

I just rewatched gremlins, and beside some jumpscares it’s pretty camp and tame.

But then the scene comes where the Santa Claus gets stuck in the chimney, discovered due to the smell. This is not shown, just a story that gets told pretty off handed.

I realized that that was the part that made the movie scary to me when younger. And it colored the rest of the movie darker, too.

Akasazh, to asklemmy in Atheists/agnostics of Lemmy, do you believe in the existence of souls?
@Akasazh@feddit.nl avatar

I like Douglas Hofstadter’s concept of the soul as a self referential mechanism. His book: ‘I am a strange loop’ expands on this, which is a bit more spiritual (for lack of a better word) expansion of his ideas in Gödel, Escher Bach.

It also explains how your own loop incorporates and curates the memories of the people you love and how you’re able to live, and see though their ‘eyes’ after they have died.

So the soul of others finds an explanation in yourself, and allows you to live in in other people’s minds, without any super natural constructs.
