Back in the day you’d just cat file.txt > /dev/lp0 and it would work. Mostly.

Ending support for Windows 10 could send 240 million computers to the landfill. Why not install Linux on them? (gadgettendency.com)

With support ending for Windows 10, the most popular desktop operating system in the world currently, possibly 240 million pcs may be sent to the landfill. This is mostly due to Windows 11’s exorbitant requirements. This will most likely result in many pcs being immediately outdated, and prone to viruses. GNU/Linux may be...

Odd, I never had that issue. I wasn’t aware it could happen.

I see how that could be confusing for novice users.

I like that “elf” is the old name of our local petroleum company.

I can totally see them going “is that all you’re buying to heat your home? You know you didn’t drive a lot last year…”

What kind of idiot doesn’t check for the Shreck script when validating input? Bunch of amateurs.

Is Ubuntu deserving the hate? (lemmy.ml)

Long story short, I have a desktop with Fedora, lovely, fast, sleek and surprisingly reliable for a near rolling distro (it failed me only once back around Fedora 34 or something where it nuked Grub). Tried to install on a 2012 i7 MacBook Air… what a slog!!! Surprisingly Ubuntu runs very smooth on it. I have been bothering all...

I also used it and dropped it years ago because it tended to break a lot in updates.

That, their poor kde support, their constant reinventing the wheel (poorly) drove me away.

Now I run opensuse as a rolling distro that’s always up to date and just never breaks even when there are 6000 packages to update. It’s boring and safe.

At least you don’t have to recalibrate it every time you want to use it.

In France, websites have biscuits. However, the cloud has gâteaux, because it’s larger, of course.

So that you didn’t waste your time reading this, biscuit comes from bis (twice) cuit (baked), as some recipes called for a second baking to dry them (so they were crunchy).
