CaptDust, to beer in Starting the end of the year right!

Aw that’s adorable art

CaptDust, (edited ) to linux in Is DNS Bloat too?

Pro tip, You don’t have to remember it. I have all my favorite IPs in a nice address book, keep it in my drawer next to my passwords

CaptDust, (edited ) to asklemmy in Should I wait for the "Snyder cut" (director's cut) of Rebel Moon?

Rounding out my viewing of this snooze fest, there is no way a directors cut can save this film, and certainly adding more time isn’t going to improve it. Dull characters, uninspired environments, generic spacecraft, I’m really struggling to understand how this much time and money can be invested into something so mediocre.

CaptDust, (edited ) to asklemmy in What hobby do you have that no one else in your family shares?

Same, but honestly for me it is such a lonely existence. Even when I show off my projects to friends/family they can’t understand the effort that went into it… many seem to think there’s a “make racing game” button or something and I just added some textures or built a track.

I often wonder if I should pivot into wood working or something else, at least I’d have something tangible to gift or sell at the end. People just seem to appreciate things they can hold in their hands more.

CaptDust, (edited ) to linux in What distros have you tried and thought, "Nope, this one's not for me"?

Oh I see… I haven’t used black arch personally, that seems so strange they’d go out of their way to disable that. For whatever is worth vanilla Arch + Xfce + i3 has been super great for my desktop, really brought new life to the hardware

CaptDust, to linux in What distros have you tried and thought, "Nope, this one's not for me"?

I find this reply kind of confusing, you’re comfortable with Gentoo on a server but installing a DE with pacman was too much? Black arch slim comes with xfce, that should definitely allow you to resize windows lol.

CaptDust, to mildlyinteresting in The Marshall Islands look like somebody gave up building a racetrack in a game

Speaking honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I still think it’s not a very interesting track layout though.

CaptDust, to linux in Cool fancy programs?

+1 for asciiquarium

CaptDust, to memes in Not inaccurate

Markiplier in the center of diagram is funny as hell. And accurate.

CaptDust, (edited ) to memes in And thus my subtitle requirement was born

Atmos won’t save you from shitty sound mixes, I have a pretty nice speaker setup and still have to turn on captions if I want to hear a conversation without my neighbors calling the cops during the next action sequence.

CaptDust, (edited ) to asklemmy in Which of your favorite creators content quality went downhill very quickly?

I don’t agree, his techniques and format are still good and though expensive, the covert instrument sets are some of the finest tools I have. If the guy wants to make a buck and offer a one stop shop for the hobby I don’t see the problem.

I guess my only complaint with LPL is seemingly running out of challenging locks, which is more a fault of manufacturers.

CaptDust, (edited ) to memes in It's a curse

Playing random characters can help. Picking someone I’m not familiar with for casual play gives me exposure to other styles and helps me become more rounded, while tipping the less experienced player a balanced playing field.

CaptDust, to asklemmy in What do ridiculously rich people (like Bill Gates etc.) ask for/get for Christmas/birthdays/etc.?

No insights, but all the money and resources in the world couldn’t replicate a homemade customized gift of some kind. Probably end up with a lot of knitted scarves and hats lol.

CaptDust, (edited ) to lemmyshitpost in And this is why I no longer have cable.

“trash reality show that feature trash pickers sorting through trash”

Lmao. That’s painful.

CaptDust, (edited ) to lemmyshitpost in And this is why I no longer have cable.

David Zaslav is the common denominator across all these examples, and now he’s in charge of Warner Bros…
