I don’t live in the US. Here are spots next to the car spots to let the cart for the staff to pick later, but go ahead, judge everybody else by your metrics and costumes.

ConstantPain, (edited )

Returning the cart means a lot of people unnecessarily walking though the parking lot, which could increase the chance of an accident happening. It is better and safer, at least here where I live, to let the staff do the job one time, from time to time.

Edit: downvote all you want, but my safety has higher priority than the convenience of the store.

Good luck web devs (lemmy.world)

Alt text:Twitter post by Daniel Feldman (@d_feldman): Linux is the only major operating system to support diagonal mode (credit [Twitter] @xssfox). Image shows an untrawide monitor rotated about 45 degrees, with a horizontal IDE window taking up a bottom triangle. A web browser and settings menu above it are organized creating a...

ConstantPain,

That’s a pretty relevant take in this context. Thank you!

ConstantPain,

My TV does this for some apps and games that do not support HDR.

ConstantPain,

Even when it works, it’s still not ice cream.

Self-hosted or personal email solutions?

I have a unique name, think John Doe, and I’m hoping to create a unique and “professional” looking email account like johndoe@gmail.com or john@doe.com. Since my name is common, all reasonable permutations are taken. I was considering purchasing a domain with something unique, then making personal family email accounts for...

ConstantPain,

I use Google Domains to create custom email addresses on the fly that syphons to my personal Gmail address.

If I subscribe to a service, say Netflix, I just put netflix@mydomain.com and it automagically exists and redirects to my Gmail.

ConstantPain,

The moment you depend on it to not live on the streets, then you don’t love it anymore.

Ending support for Windows 10 could send 240 million computers to the landfill. Why not install Linux on them? (gadgettendency.com)

With support ending for Windows 10, the most popular desktop operating system in the world currently, possibly 240 million pcs may be sent to the landfill. This is mostly due to Windows 11’s exorbitant requirements. This will most likely result in many pcs being immediately outdated, and prone to viruses. GNU/Linux may be...

ConstantPain,

I don’t have the windows key anymore. To do that I’ll have to reinstall the system instead of upgrading it.

ConstantPain,

I’m Intel/Nvidia. I’ll give it a try anyway. See what fits my hardware best.

ConstantPain,

That’s what I’m gonna do with my Windows 10 gaming machine. It’s been working just fine since I bought it in 2016.

ConstantPain,

It’s certainly a brazilian (or portuguese, maybe) elevator. These buttons are to be used by an elevator operator to manually control the lift.

They mean: “Parar” (stop), “Não Parar” (don’t stop), “Subir” (go up) and “Descer” (go down). The buttons above operate the doors.

ConstantPain,

Tem que usar uma chave e colocar ele no modo de operação manual para esses botões funcionarem.

ConstantPain,

To activate or deactivate the elevator fan, which blows air from the shaft to the inside of the cabin.

ConstantPain,

Calling common things of nature “God” is just adding unnecessary complexity and trying to give purpose to what has none. Things don’t exist to serve us, we adapted to these things for us to exist.

About the “math god”, math doesn’t hold the atoms together, it just explains it.

ConstantPain,

Every picture is a video if you’re high enough.

What are some productive things to do when you wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep for a few hours?

I’m looking for suggestions that zombie-me could follow through with. The problem is I can barely bring myself to get out of bed, let alone do a useful task. It just wastes typically 2–5 hours of my life as I wait for tiredness to finally (re)take hold.

ConstantPain,

Watch restoration videos without commentary on YouTube and you’ll be back to sleep in no time. Always work for me.

ConstantPain,

Mass Effect 3 pushes you to optimize your routes because of the Reaper invasion. That killed the joy of exploration for me.

ConstantPain,

Sampa, Perfumaria Princesa. Foi onde comprei.
