CowsLookLikeMaps,

Follow-up question: what open source software projects do you contribute to? I like using Liberapay or Open Collective, with Patreon as a third choice.

CowsLookLikeMaps,

Most install guides include pihole with Unbound DNS but running your own DNS server is not a requirement for ad and tracker blocking.

CowsLookLikeMaps,

UBlock is awesome. Pihole only really breaks if you add too many or too aggressive blocklists. The main benefit of pihole is you can block ads and trackers from any device on your network. I find the biggest offenders to be smart devices.

CowsLookLikeMaps,

Thanks for catching that. I have updated the description.

CowsLookLikeMaps,

At least for platforms like YouTube, creators are making $0 unless they have a ton of watch ours and subscribers and can be monetized.

CowsLookLikeMaps,

Thanks! I used the search function but it wasn’t showing up for some reason. I’ll link to it in the OP.

CowsLookLikeMaps,

Likewise :)

CowsLookLikeMaps,

Or you’re stuck within the confines of a horrible legacy system which the business will not allow you the time to refactor/rewrite but still want your code to be somewhat readable.

But in general, I agree with your argument. When writing from scratch or improving reasonably well designed code, often documentation could be replaced by breaking it up into another function or naming variable better. It’s a bit of a code smell for violating the SRP. And yet there are times that documentation is needed for the “why”. Things are nuanced I guess.

CowsLookLikeMaps,

I take no cows but Azamat Bagatov looks very suspicious.

CowsLookLikeMaps,

Thank you for your explanation! I feel a tiny bit better about them now despite constantly being startled by a massive one in the sink, etc.

The only bug I've seen is small spiders and the occasional but very rare silverfish or pill bug. We certainly don't have cockroaches or bed bugs. Is it feasible to get rid of their food source or is that a lost cause?

CowsLookLikeMaps,
