Through abundance it will defeat itself by working too well. Approaching full automation the only way for capitalism to survive is via UBI, otherwise there will be no consumer markets. When we have enough productive capacity and sufficient UBI that everyone is wealthy without having to work, a society like the Federation from Star Trek becomes possible. When everyone has enough wealth that hoarding it becomes meaningless, we might achieve something like a communist society.

Jews started out buying the land legally until Arab nationalists started murdering them, making a one state solution impossible, then declared war on Israel when they used the UN's two state borders.

Arabs who remained peaceful and stayed behind the 48 borders were not "ethnically cleansed," and today are 20% of the citizens of Israel. Perhaps that oppression is due to constant violent attacks and a refusal to lay down arms and has nothing to do with ethnicity.

Honorable combat and waffles for every hour of the day, however long those are on earth.

Bloom County Starts December 8 (sh.itjust.works)

If you don’t know about Bloom County it’s a comic strip that ran the decade of the 80s (1980-1989). It was one of my favorites as a kid and though some of it will surely be dated, the majority should hold up well to current times. It examined events in politics and culture through the viewpoint of a fanciful small town in...

you can't do what a Series S does for $250 with a $250 PC. Plus with gamepass the math doesn't even need a napkin. It's simply the best deal in gaming right now, whether you're paying for online play or not.

The consoles themselves are often sold at a loss because they know they will make that money back on games. Which is a better value proposition is arguable, especially once you factor in how much more you'll be paying per game relative to steam sales, the ability of PCs to do things other than gaming, and the inevitable obsolescence of consoles. I can still play games on a modern PC from when steam was new.
Microsoft also offers a game pass for PC, but I'd rather own my games.

Add a handful of frozen stir fry veggies and some slices of Chinese sausage too, then pretend like you have a lazy stoner Michelin star.

Yeah the cultural exploration was probably the most interesting aspect of it, otherwise she just seems like a palette swapped Jubilee. They leaned pretty heavily into that. Honestly, I wish they'd just created a different Pakistani superhero to explore this, it might have been more interesting. Other countries should have superheroes too, right?

If I recall correctly, her original shape-shifting powers led to some interesting character development in the comics, which fit in with her thematically wrestling with her identity. That all got discarded when she got the power to summon purple glowing rock things instead, leaving behind the most interesting part of the character to me.

Also I recall there were a lot of "hello fellow kids!" cringeworthy attempts at appealing to zoomers in the miniseries.

DC democrats do not represent Democrats nationally, but if you find that compelling, far more local Democratic groups support it:

  • Alameda County (CA) Democratic Party
  • California Democratic Party
  • Colorado Democratic Party
  • Maine Democratic Party
  • Massachusetts Democratic Party
  • Minneapolis, MN DFL Party
  • Progressive Democrats of America
  • Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles
  • San Francisco (CA) Democratic Party

Compare which cities and states have implemented RCV in the US, (mostly blue,) and which states have outright banned its use (mostly red.)

Democrats did a big push for RCV in 2019, and while the Biden administration hasn't weighed in yet, the Obama administration he served in supported it.

An estimated 58.3% of male newborns and 80.5% of males aged 14-59 years in the United States are circumcised source

Circumcision is common in the US and usually has nothing to do with Judaism. Male genital mutilation without consent is terrible, even when one's imaginary friend condones it.

Fuck you for body shaming people who didn't have it done.

I wasn't aware of that, thanks for the link. It would be interesting to know how prevalent indoctrination/militarization of youth is in each of these nations. It can be hard to accurately judge magnitude in this conflict, it is so heavily propagandized.

You're suggesting that intent doesn't matter, causing accidental civilian deaths while defending one's self is an act morally equivalent to intentionally targeting and murdering civilians. I disagree. In most legal systems and ethical systems intent matters a lot.

As if the cartoon this thread is about wasn't claiming moral superiority for the other side.

Thanks for the link.

So one officer 7 years ago, who had the book thrown at him for his crimes by Israel. His actions are clearly opposed by his government and he was punished for his behavior. This isn't the smoking gun @matcha_addict was implying it is.

Do you think Hamas will punish its own rapists, murderers, and kidnappers?

“Palestinian women are not having lots of children because they don’t know about contraception, or can’t access contraception,” says Sara Randall, an anthropologist at University College London, who co-authored the 2006 investigation. “So one has to conclude that they actually want lots of children.” source

At this rate they shall soon have no house at all. Constant terror attacks against an undefeatable enemy and an unwillingness to compromise will ensure it.

The Ukrainian resistance aren’t called terrorists, the french resistance during ww2 weren’t called terrorists.

That's probably because neither of those groups exhibited the mediaeval barbarity against civilians Hamas has been celebrating.

Hamas are like them freedom fighters and the atrocities they commit mirrors that of the aggressor.

Hamas is explicitly calling for genocide. "The aggressor," is not. Israel goes to great lengths to minimize civilian deaths, even notifying targets of incoming airstrikes before they hit.

If you think these actions are morally equivalent your moral compass is broken. One side is trying to defend themselves and the other side is trying to eradicate every member of their opponent's society.

They want freedom and they fight for it !

Perhaps they should negotiate for it rather than continually provoking an enemy they cannot defeat militarily and hiding among civilians. That would prevent many needless civilian casualties.
