Delphia, to gaming in Hold my beer - Bungie

Any journalist with credibility vets their sources. “Per a source” is pretty much shorthand for “Someone who we have verified works at Bungie and we believe is in a reasonable position to know this information” so even if it turns out to be false its very hard to sue because they printed what they beleived to be true at the time and did basic due diligence to check it wasnt made up bullshit. Otherwise they use much more evasive and broad language.

The genie is a bitch to get back into the bottle isnt it.

Delphia, to asklemmy in Does wind power cause visual pollution in your opinion?

Id say that they arent exactly picturesque but they provide clean energy. So like sure… maybe dont put them everywhere, lets leave out the Unesco world heritage sites and National parks but theres an awful lot of otherwise unremarkable land that Id rather see a bunch of windmills on than the currently existing “fuckall”

Delphia, to asklemmy in Non-religious Republicans of Lemmy, how do you reconcile your non-religious convictions with a party that bases a lot of its policies on religion?

Like I said, Ive broken down the numbers much more comprehensively before and it always results in arguments that I cant be fucked getting involved in on social media, last time I did it it was effectively a research paper. Its napkin math but you’re right, the U.S COULD afford it hypothetically, but it would take a literally unbelievable culture shift in the way 100% of the country sees guns to make it possible.

To get what I think I estimated out to 1.5 trillion over 5 years out of a federal government that cant agree on budgets to pay federal workers for a policy that effectively 50% of the population will be highly opposed to and many will actively and violently resist…

Delphia, to memes in To all the people complaining about content on Lemmy

The fact is that if you arent into Linux, piracy, shitting on Elon or communism a lot of Lemmy is pretty shit.

I was super active on Reddit in a lot of communities that are just straight up wastelands here.

Delphia, to cooking in Milo? What do you do with it?

Ok as an Australian allow me to weigh in.

Firstly, you need more than looks reasonable at all times. This is not a health food.

Its excelent on vanilla ice cream.

It doesnt mix well in cold milk or cold water, so put some in a cup (more than you think is reasonable) and then either add hot milk or enough hot water to break it down and then add cold milk. It takes a vigorous stirring so use a cup big enough to allow you to go to town.

Delphia, to asklemmy in Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?

It would make it a bit easier for people who can if you knew that the scumbag wasnt getting royalty cheques anymore.

Ian Watkins is a fucking extreme example, but imagine putting in a dozen years of your life and career, your art and passion into a band and its catalogue only for the lead singer to make it absolutely radioactive.

Delphia, to asklemmy in Non-religious Republicans of Lemmy, how do you reconcile your non-religious convictions with a party that bases a lot of its policies on religion?

Im not American, I’m Australian. I have problems with anyone that wants to run around screaming for solutions that are impossible to implement. It might come from a good place but its just virtue signalling. That goes for people on both sides of any argument, the only thing it does is detracts from any meaningful dialogue on actual solutions.

The gun problem in the U.S is way more cultural than financial, but even if you take all the culture and set it aside like it isnt the core of the issue even the basic numbers of doing a buyback and compensating every person and industry now out of work becomes an insane number very quickly.

Delphia, to asklemmy in Non-religious Republicans of Lemmy, how do you reconcile your non-religious convictions with a party that bases a lot of its policies on religion?

Oh the problem is DEFINITELY cultural. My beef isnt with the idea of gun control its with people saying “Just ban them” like theres anything simple about it.

A buyback of 393 million firearms if everyone lined up and handed them in in an orderly and peaceful fashion likely costing at minimum half a trillion dollars is just a starting point. Thats assuming 100% of the population, lawmakers, lobbyists and the entire firearms industry just goes “Awwwwww… Okaaaaay” like a 5yo who has just been told its time to stop playing and come in for dinner.

Delphia, (edited ) to memes in No water for like 3 days to get that look

I see a problem with people lying about it, especially if they are profiting off the lie or using it to gain an unfair advantage in sports. The fact that they are illegal and you have to get them underground exacerbates the problem. Its not on your medical history, theres no official records of you being on them so you can lie.

The issue I have is theres a social distain towards steroids that seems unfair when compared to all the other things I listed. I’m not ashamed to tell you that I’m not on steroids, but only because I dont have reliable access to them. Because they are extremely illegal in Australia and because we are an island nation hard to smuggle in and therefore HORRIBLY expensive. If I could have my doctor manage a sensibly dosed regime, Id start tomorrow and I wouldnt lie for a second about it.

You’re half right about the hormones, you experience supression when coming off a cycle thats pretty much directly proportional to your dosage and duration when on steroids. Which is why Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) is a must, suplements that help rebalance your hormones and bring testosterone production back up.

The problem with them being illicit and distained is that theres nothing stopping people from just setting their own insane dosages, running terrible stacks (multiple different drugs/compounds), not doing adequate PCT and generally making up their own rules, leading to bad outcomes.

Delphia, to memes in No water for like 3 days to get that look

Im gonna ask you. What exactly is the problem with that?

I can walk into a plastic surgeon and talk about how I dont like my eyes/ears/nose/lips/etc and they will take a fucking scalpel and cut me up. I can get hair implants, butt implants, pec implants. I could eat until I have to waddle into a doctors office to be offered a veritable menu of weight loss drugs and invasive surgeries. If I were a woman and pound weight loss drugs, engage in extreme dieting and get some “work done” the general attitude will be “Yass Queen, live your best life!” and not to be transphobic (Its not coming from that place, think what you want) but I could even wholeheartedly believe that my entire gender is wrong and recieve surgeries, hormones and therapies to change that.

But because I’m a grown man in good shape who works out 6 days a week, despite their being an extensive list of drugs and compounds that can relatively safely* give me the body I’d love to have I’m not allowed to have them because they are “performance enhancing” like that isnt the whole reason I want them. I am told, that even with strict medical supervision, bloodwork and other support I’m straight up not allowed. People act like the recipe isnt “Steroids… and a FUCKLOAD OF WORK”

Delphia, to asklemmy in If you could go back in time and stop any one person or group's musical career, who or what would it be?

Ian Watkins.
