ExLisper,

Is this the best joke ever written? No. Wait, I meant yes. Yes it is.

ExLisper,

Who even operates them?

You’re not going to believe it but it’s Donal Trump.

ExLisper,

Oh my, now they are trying to Marie Curie Linus Torvalds.

ExLisper,

Ok, I see we have run out of memes and are staring to repost everything again. Time to start new service guys.

ExLisper,

That’s nothing. I know a girl that asked a waiter to heat up her salmorejo in a microwave. The waiter said no. It wasn’t even a fancy place, just a normal bar. There are some things you just don’t do.

ExLisper,

Get some live distro first and check it out without installation. You will be able to test some basic desktop environments very easily. Most of the distros will have live image. Even better run it in a virtual machine and play around. Test KDE, Gnome, Cinnamon and XFCE. Look at some themes and plugins. I think customizing your desktop is a nice, visual way to see how flexible it all is and get the feel of how configuration files work. If you will like what you can achieve with a bit of work you will just keep going. If you will find it ‘stupid and useless’ it’s probably not for you.

ExLisper,

AFAIK Minecraft is not like water, you can live without it.

ExLisper,

BTW Conquistadores Adventum is a really good show about the colonization of Americas. It shows how tough the sailing was but also how brutal the conquest was and tells the stories of people behind it.

ExLisper,

Hey, I also met the thin American once. Small world…

ExLisper,

There’s no such thing as Middle Europe. Oder river separates Western Europe from Eastern Europe. That’s it.

ExLisper,

I bet her parents’ childhood Chinese take out was just called ‘Wok’.

ExLisper,

Movies/shows I can still see many times today:

  • Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind - it’s just so nicely structured, you always notice something new
  • Glengarry Glen Ross - I finished watching it for the first time and I thought go myself “fuck, I could watch it again” and I did, watch the whole movie again straight away. I can still just go back and watch it. The acting is so amazing it never gets boring
  • Veep - best show ever, I’ve seen every episode probably over 10 times and I still watch it all the time, like when I’m cooking or something. It’s just soooo fucking perfect
ExLisper,

Another fun fact is that using ether during childbirth was forbidden by church for a long time because bible specifically says that giving birth in pain is God’s punishment.

ExLisper,

What the internet was like? Glorious! No stupid internet points, no followers, no tracking. Just random content. Good times…

ExLisper,

I think he would be more surprised by the fact that Trump was president of the united states. Of course first you would have to explain to him what ‘President’ is. And who’s Trump. And what reality TV is. And TV. And where’s America.

ExLisper,

I don’t think it’s hate, more like second hand embarrassment.

ExLisper,

And killed the driver (who I think is called and engineer but I’m not sure and I’m not going to look it up because I don’t feel like but even though it would take me less time to actually check than to write this explanation but to hell with it) who represents the middle class.

ExLisper,

That’s because you’re not a typical consumer. Average consumer those ads target is a mindless capitalist zombie with the sole goal of owning more stuff. Especially in US (but not only) people are trained by their capitalist master that ‘you are what you own’ and spending money is a way of living there. I’m sure you see it everywhere. People go absolutely crazy over brands like Marvel or Star Wars and spend thousands of dollars on useless gadgets. People go crazy over snickers and buy hundredths of pairs. People go crazy over phones and and take credit just to own the latests model. And the ads are there to program those people into wanting more and more things.

What are your thoughts on fiber through the city?

After 16 years of living in my city, they will finally have city-wide fiber internet. I’m pretty stoked because the fastest internet I could possibly have is a WISP at 50gbps down and 10gbps up. Now I will finally have gigabit but it’s through the city, and I’m wondering if they will be more strict on illegal content...

ExLisper,

You poor Americans :( In Europe I can get 1Gbps for around 25 Euro/month from a local (they only operate in my town) ISP. Each town has one or two of them. On top of that you have the big ones like Orange. I could choose from probably 10 different providers. New buildings just come with fiber preinstalled. Just plug in the router and enjoy.
