Sure. I hate Google. I also hate Coca-Cola and Walmart and Nestle. And I hate Georgia-Pacific. The problem is, I need toilet paper.
There are so many evil companies out there. It’s too late to worry about them all. The system as a whole is a problem. Picking and choosing which evil company is too evil to use does nothing. It’s a feel-good “solution” like recycling. It solves nothing. It doesn’t make the world a better place.
So fuck it, I’ll use Google products. It won’t make a difference under late-stage capitalism.
It absolutely is hard to cut Walmart out of your life if it’s the only store of its type in town because all the other stores went out of business. It’s hard to cut Georgia-Pacific out of your life if you want to use virtually any paper or wood product in the United States. And considering the environmental damage, Georgia-Pacific is a lot more evil than Google.
Also, any phone you bought has parts in it made by giant evil companies, probably exploiting child labor.
Sorry, but you cannot escape supporting atrocities in the contemporary world unless you live in a shack in the woods. Not using Google will simply not make the world a better place when the problem is capitalism.
