JimmyMcGill, to asklemmy in Which of your favorite creators content quality went downhill very quickly?

He’s very much not liked in the lock picking community.

Not only does he push his overpriced tools a lot, most of them are very much not needed. He also puts a lot of focus on specialized car lock picking tools which are expensive at, made for each brand basically, and in a very dubious grey area which is a big no no in that “sport”.

From a purist side there are also a lot of complaints.

JimmyMcGill, to asklemmy in What are some green flags in a partner in your opinion?

Because people need to fart. Being able to do it in front of your SO means you are comfortable with each other that much and personally it just means I can be me. There’s no barriers and both of us can just relax.

Not to mention that the grocery stores that are well located are usually more expensive. The cheaper options exist in less number and so it makes it less convenient or sometimes not possible at all to get to on a normal work day.

You can save a lot of money that way.

And I’m in Europe FYI.

JimmyMcGill, to asklemmy in What's some amazing technology they have in Japan that's very normal to them but would blow our minds here in the US and western world?

Switzerland doesn’t really have a high speed rail network. In fact they design against it. Indeed the country is very small so it’s not a huge deal but then again there are flights between Geneva and Zürich so it’s large enough for that.

Their rail system is by far the best in Europe though and one of the best in the world only surpassed by the likes of Japan. They just aren’t really know for high speed rail.

JimmyMcGill, to asklemmy in When/how do you think capitalism will be defeated?

I mean not really? Because currently capitalism as an economic engine is actively preventing these outcomes. And basically by design. How do you explain that?

JimmyMcGill, to asklemmy in Honestly - How much will you sacrifice for a better world?

It would because it would still be a choice. One would have to make it or choose not to. Yes it makes the sacrifice smaller but it’s a valid point. I also share that concern.

It wouldn’t need to be guaranteed but right now many scarifices are basically insignificant

JimmyMcGill, to memes in Public Transit my beloved 😍

Yes that’s how it works. You save some money and spend it in other shit.

Also I don’t have a car just so I can go get groceries. I have a car for a multitude of other reasons and I can get groceries. Driving 5 mins to a supermarket has an insignificant cost, and if that supermarket is cheaper then you can save multiples of that.

Regarding the stuff expiring, that’s just your experience. I have the opposite. There’s plenty of non perishable shit that I can get when it’s on sale because I can carry a ton of it if I came by car. Meanwhile if I go shopping by foot and I need laundry detergent I’ll just have to get whatever they have at that time. You can save a ton of money like that.

For easily perishable food yes buying regularly is better but that also means a ton of wasted time going to the supermarket very frequently even if to get only a few items.

JimmyMcGill, to asklemmy in best app for lemmy?

I’m quite happy with Avelon

Yea I wasn’t doubting you, I just wanted for your to add some small explanation/context as to what these texts had

JimmyMcGill, to baldurs_gate_3 in Baldur's Gate 3 colossal new patch adds a playable epilogue set six months after the game ends with 3,589 new lines of dialogue, 2 new difficulty modes, and I'm running out of headline space

I might do this for my second play through with my gf. Increase the stakes. Can you still load if you die?

That’s good to read. I had a bug for a few patches where I couldn’t even use DLSS (local multiplayer) so act 3 was quite annoying. Everytime we went into a basement it was noticeable smoother and enjoyable. This was fixed I believe with patch 4.

Hopefully this brings the frame rate up and that will let me enjoy and end act 3.

JimmyMcGill, to asklemmy in When/how do you think capitalism will be defeated?

Yes but you really didn’t answer my question. It’s also debatable if we’re anywhere near that point at this stage

JimmyMcGill, to asklemmy in When/how do you think capitalism will be defeated?

Because in those countries it was regulated enough?

The question you need to answer is why countries like the US don’t and if you disagree that capitalism didn’t have anything to do with it

JimmyMcGill, to asklemmy in When/how do you think capitalism will be defeated?

Care to explain why?

JimmyMcGill, to asklemmy in Honestly - How much will you sacrifice for a better world?

I’d argue that effort is better spent fighting for broader change. Ideally you’d do both but one is more significant than the other imo

I have no interest in being a modern day martyr. Both of us could end our lives right now and it would be the most eco friendly action possible, but it would wouldn’t even begin to move the needle. Insignificant is not even close to describing it. So I won’t severely impact my lifestyle just so that I can feel good about it. I will and have make compromises and reductions to help with this, up to a certain point and I have and will continue to push for broader changes that will affect groups of people even if I’m included in those groups because there the proposition is different.

Imagine you live with a couple of roommates and they completely trash the place every single night. We’re talking like shitting in the middle of the living room, trash everywhere etc etc I won’t contribute to that mess at that scale but I won’t lose sleep if I left the my dishes undone overnight.
