I’m sorry to break your bubble but most people just don’t care. They want their computer to play a video off the internet, and don’t care how long that takes as long as it works. Maybe they’ll care about things in the specific interests they have, but they won’t care about computers, software, and libre software.

We, people that care about software freedom are a minority and we need to accept that. And the only way to get things done when you’re in the minority is to borrow power from the majority, e.g. by passing legislation.

if you want really really good battery life, a good laptop for that seems to be the T480 (8th gen intel).

It’s relatively cheap used and if you get the 24wh internal and 72wh external batteries you can get 96wh in total

Hey 👋 dear Linux Community,

I'm still kinda new to Linux (started using this year 😅) I already made it to my main OS, even if I still missing some things which I used on Windows, anyway. What I wanted to ask you guys, what recommendations do you have for Linux Mint (Cinnamon)? In terms of security, optimization, (a way to make the UI looking modern ;-;) and privacy? I would be very interested in what you do guys to optimize your Linux setup :) I'm pretty technical, so there is nothing which could overwhelm me (probaly).

i really like the look of KDE, though it’s having a version upgrade right now (kde5->6) so you might encounter some bugs when it gets done.

it’s an instruction set only available in early 12th gen intel chips, so you can usually go into the bios and find settings to turn it off.
