JustZ,

Nintendo game called Solomon’s Key.

It was a great early puzzle game.

Secret service agents moments after the 1981 assassination attempt of Ronald Reagan. (lemmy.world)

Excerpt: On this day in 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest at the side entrance of the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue by John Hinckley Jr. Reagan was walking to his limousine after a speech to AFL-CIO leaders when Hinckley, 25, who was standing among a group of reporters, fired six shots, hitting Reagan...

JustZ,

This photo stands out as long ago helping me to realize nobody is in charge. All the adults, even at the highest levels of our government, are just regular people getting through it as best they can.

Their look of panic and defensive posture, all the intelligence and protection the free world can muster reduced to two agents with an Uzi and a revolver, pointing them at nothing, amidst total chaos.

JustZ,

Trump made the racists and fascists feel confident and united. Trump undermined our allies, all of our institutions, the courts, the judges, the police, the press, anyone who doesn’t do exactly what he wants. Dude invited Russia to flood our country with disinformation and conspiracy nonsense in a way that resulted in millions of unnecessary deaths during the pandemic. For a while it was like another September 11th was happening every single day. Even the most conservative numbers for death estimates from COVID are like 15 times the number of Americans who died in Vietnam. Dude tried to deploy troops in America against people who protested things he did. His administration was a formalized system of bribery, nepotism, and influence peddling. He tried to unilaterally pull the US out of NATO. Everyday was a nightmare of chaos and lies.

I’ve forgotten more horrible shit than I ever remember from the Bush years. Bush was George Washington compared to Trump. You can pin GWB with starting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and manufacturing the consent to get us there, but that’s about it. The whole war in Afghanistan is kind of overshadowed by the absolute disaster of the withdrawal, negotiated and agreed to by Trump’s administration with the sole purpose of tripping up Biden during his first 100 days, and he sold out our allies and loyalists to do it, not to mention majority of people in Afghanistan that never wanted the Taliban in charge. I agree GWB was the worst president since Andrew Jackson, but Trump is so, so much worse.

JustZ,

Well you’re broken and hurting inside.

JustZ,

Not sure those three names belong in the same list.

JustZ, (edited )

This is such a dumb take.

Friend, it’s a comedy special. He’s a comedian. It’s not like when one of these bigots says a bunch of biggoted shit and then tries to escape responsibility by saying they were just joking. Dave Chapelle is actually telling jokes, though.

And get this…you don’t need to laugh at it. But the special you’re quoting from was filmed in front of a live show and was a smash hit, and that’s to be expected because dude fairly consistently brings the house down wherever he goes. The crowds have voted. There’s no such thing as a successful comedian who isn’t funny to most people and plenty of Chappelle fans, comedy fans, and comedians, say Dave Chappelle is the living GOAT.

You’ve taken every quote out of context and in doing so you’ve obviously killed all the jokes and maligned the comedian. Stick to your day job you don’t know shit about funny.

JustZ,

That’s how I felt when I first saw this too. Glad it helps.

JustZ,

It’s easy. This is the chart they give every student in law school:

My buddy works outside like this. He’s got an electric coat with a built in heating element, with a rechargable battery. He loves it.

JustZ,

A single issue for their single brain cell.

JustZ,

The Second Amendment by definition and history is a liberal invention.

JustZ,

My buddy did this one time. Ended up stuffing a can of tuna into his pocket without thinking and then got arrested because they thought he robbed the convenience store and killed the clerk, but it was actually someone else just in a very similar car. Gotta be careful.

JustZ,

I guess, took him five tries to pass the bar.

JustZ,

He said something too about that there was some old lady that needed news glasses and she got confused and thought he looked like the guy that had shot the clerk.

JustZ,

Stupid losers with no self esteem attracted to other stupid losers with no self esteem. Nothing complicated about it.

JustZ,

“That doesn’t taste like fresh air.”

JustZ,

Runs fine for me. Reduced some settings. It’s a game built for the best right now, and for the future. Lot of potential.

Gamers who have gamed for a long time

do you find it difficult to get into games? I’ve got Epic Games and Steam Games libraries chock-full of classic top-tier games along with many other newer games like Stray or 2077, and a bunch of indie titles. I just can’t be bothered to download and install them, much less try to get into the characters and storylines. Used...

JustZ,

As I get older I find I have to know what I like and spend extra time selecting titles because I know that I won’t be buying that many games because I don’t have time to play all that much. I buy what I know I will like and that way I will finish it. I don’t want to feel like I’ve wasted time.

Sometimes I jump back and replay games that I really enjoyed. Even like an MMO, I’ll reactive my character after years of not playing.ast game I bought was Witcher 3 on Steam sale. Will be buying Cities 2 this week, after waiting for it for years and years.

JustZ,

I work with a lot of badly injured people and my two pieces of advice based on my experience is to be committed to your pt and to practice mindfulness as a way to reduce the effects of pain. Pain disrupts sleep and concentration, and is really fucking exhausting.

JustZ,

Always reminded me of the Battle of the Frogs. Talk as much shit about French military success, but one night a bunch of actual croaking frogs sent the residents of an entire New England town screaming into the night because of the mere thought that French soldiers were approaching as they slept. The cunning and brutality of French soldiers was practically mythical.

I don’t know they were fighting about Canada or something. /s

JustZ,

This is hilarious.

Haven’t you taken enough from them?

Jkjk.

JustZ,

In my experience all procrastinating and avoidance can be traced to emotional reactions to whatever I’m thinking about the task.

Just like, how I conceptualize the task in my head.

The more significant the consequences, the more I naturally desire to avoid thinking about how much is at stake with the task. Like, maybe I’ve gotten wrapped up in thinking “wow, if I don’t get this task done, that proves I’m really a screw up.” So just thinking about what failure might mean puts my body into fight or flight, and one of the ways we naturally cope with that is avoidance. It feels like anxiety. It that case, I recognize now that I need to deliberately take time to think about what success on the task will mean for me.

That lessens my emotional reaction to negative thoughts about a task. One way to practice this that’s been helpful is whenever I think of a task I have to do, I try to follow it with a thought of why I have to do it, and what goal I will meet if I do it.

On the flip side, a lot of my avoidance and procrastination is really just prioritizing and being ambitious. Like, there really isn’t enough time in the day for me, and I accept that; so time I do spend relaxing or zoning does not need to make me feel any type of way about something productive I technically could be doing.

I’m further trying to condition my relax and zone out time as if it’s a consequence of doing something productive first. Like I get to actually enjoy that time if I’ve got something I easily direct my brain to if it starts in on me; talkin’ about, shut up brain, I can play Skyrim all afternoon, my inbox is empty, or I drafted that thing, or ran on the exercise bike. That shuts up my brain some.

JustZ,

This was always legal. I’m an attorney, I do not represent any Trump supporters. If a client says something favorable about trump, they are no longer my client. They are just too stupid, judgement too poor, don’t understand difference between reality and fantasy. They make the absolute worst clients.

JustZ,

Nah. Many of them have stumbled their way into money. Lots of trade people and small businesses, which makes up my typical clientele, others are sons and daughters of second or third generation union humps. Many grew up with one working parent being able to provide and that union parent has one or two pensions and is still hustling jobs. So, many of them can afford a lawyer. They are unfailingly whiney babies who are an awful combination of privileged existence and self agrandizement. I blame social media for validating their most half-baked ideas and emotional reactions.
