LesserAbe,

This one could baffle future generations. Phone booths were mostly done when I was growing up, but I think kids would play a game where they would see how many people could fit in a booth, right?

LesserAbe,

Setting aside that making sense of things Trump suggests is pointless: one method would be a blanket order that telecom providers turn off access in a targeted area. I expect in America some portion of people would still figure out how to get connectivity, but cutting off 80% of internet access would still be very disruptive.

LesserAbe,

Reminds me of this tweet from Merman_Melville: “Being a billionaire must be insane. You can buy new teeth, new skin. All your chairs cost 20,000 dollars and weigh 2,000 pounds. Your life is just a series of your own preferences. In terms of cognitive impairment it’s probably like being kicked in the head by a horse every day” The experience itself is probably harmful and changes the person. https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/18e0c77d-e341-4343-bbeb-80a0c47c8be9.png

LesserAbe,

Why are we seeing this image when clearly it should be on a novelty t-shirt sold only to sassy snow plow drivers

LesserAbe,

If Santa didn’t give us the opportunity to choose to do good or choose to do bad, how would we earn the chance to live in heaven with Santa for eternity? Santa never gives us more than we can bear, and he works in mysterious ways. Yes, we can come to Santa with our earnest request, but sometimes the answer is no. Remember the abominable snowman is always on the prowl for boys and girls whose faith is weak

LesserAbe,

What these lists are missing is a word for a person who is doing something bad/unwise.

LesserAbe,

From a religious nut job perspective life begins at conception, not ejaculation, so you’re safe.

LesserAbe,

Not sure if this is where you’re going with this, but some pro life advocates view contraception that prevents the implantation of a fertilized egg as an abortion (and hence murder)

LesserAbe,

Where in the Bible are you referring to?

I’m an atheist now but was a handful of credit hours away from finishing my bachelor’s degree in “Bible”. There’s a verse in Genesis that talks about God breathing life into Adam, but that’s not talking about all humans.

LesserAbe,

No, I don’t expect a company’s website to be open source, just their primary product or service

LesserAbe,

Definitely #1, although I do think about the guy that was joy riding a tank, think it was in San Diego. It was on one of those “wildest police chase” TV shows and they kept playing the same clips over and over, the tank running over cars and stuff like that. Also not sure if it really counts as a police chase, but there is the kill dozer.

LesserAbe,

Yeah feel like it’s similar to don’t look down the barrel of an unloaded gun. Sure, there’s not supposed to be a bullet in there, but the risk if you’re mistaken is too great. There’s not supposed to be a train coming down those tracks, but would be pretty bad if there was.

LesserAbe,

I’m sure you’re right. I guess my example was because even if you’re certain that the chamber is empty because you cleared it yourself, you still have an inhibition about looking down the barrel. Even if logically I knew no trains were coming, I’d have a hard time sleeping there.

LesserAbe,

Tow mounting hooks

LesserAbe,

Sounds good. Not sure this counts as a minor change…

LesserAbe, (edited )

Hmm. This reminds me of those experiments where they got the rat a button to get a dopamine hit and the rat just kept pounding on it

LesserAbe,

Arguably God is a city planner, and that is how he laid it out…

LesserAbe,

Yes, I definitely rely on all automatic payments. When I first moved out on my own thought I had a grip on things but too many bills ended up paid a couple days late, even though I had the money.

We also have recurring transfers to savings and to individual accounts for “fluff” spending.

LesserAbe,

I previously had Simple, and One before that, but banks don’t seem to like the buckets/pots/envelopes paradigm. You said Monzo is working towards it, what does that look like currently?

LesserAbe,

What bank is it that lets you create temporary cards?

LesserAbe,

Would you be willing to share how old you are? When I was younger I was a little more blase about it, but now I’m about 40 and thinking damn I wish I had savings and more in my 401k
