I’m an atheist now but was a handful of credit hours away from finishing my bachelor’s degree in “Bible”. There’s a verse in Genesis that talks about God breathing life into Adam, but that’s not talking about all humans.
The Morning After Pill is is technically not contraception as it happens after conception but prevents the embryo from attaching to the uterus wall (or something like that)
I thought its purpose was to tell the body to not ovulate as it simulates hormonal pregnancy, which is why it can also have rough side effects after. The copper IUD prevents an ovum from implanting in the uterine wall. The MAP does not prevent one getting pregnant if the egg has already dropped.
Disclaimer, I’m a guy and writing this on my morning commute, so if I’m wrong, please chime in and correct me.
That’s the normal contraceptive pill that you’d take regularly, the “morning after pill” is for when you’ve realised that you forgot to use any contraception and need to stop that embryo before it grows any more!
Even for the morning after pill, the main mechanism is to prevent/delay ovulation that cycle. It theoretically can reduce the likelihood of implantation, but it’s less effective at that mode of prevention. And if the embryo already implanted, it will do nothing.
Plan B One-Step works before release of an egg from the ovary. As a result, Plan B One-Step usually stops or delays the release of an egg from the ovary. It is one tablet that contains a higher dose of levonorgestrel than birth control pills and works in a similar way to prevent pregnancy.
Evidence does not support that the drug affects implantation or maintenance of a pregnancy after implantation, therefore it does not terminate a pregnancy.
Not sure if this is where you’re going with this, but some pro life advocates view contraception that prevents the implantation of a fertilized egg as an abortion (and hence murder)
Some haploid forms are full grown adults, such as male ants and bees. The haploid form of fungi is usually dominant over the diploid form. Haploid forms are not some crippled half version. They are a complete life stage of the organism.
The fact that our diploid forms are what we call people, while the haploid forms are microscopic probably has more to do with how we have sex than anything.
You might argue that the diploid form is more robust genetically, but the sperm cell has great need for robustness.
Originally it was, with a more guilt-trippy headline, but like with most propaganda people like this come up with, I fail to see the problem.
Imagine your parents giving you the chance to be born and grow up in actual Heaven, having never been at the mercy of...gestures vaguely at everything....and that's supposed to be bad parenting.
That's apparently the evil option. The good parenting option is the one with all the murder and starvation and the constant risk of sin and therefore hell. You're giving your child the opportunity to go to hell if you have it here, instead of just automatically sending it to heaven like you could.
I remember being 13 or so and i was at my friends place for the first time. They had a cool house and his room was really far away from everything. He opened the door to his room and said: so, here is my nintendo, bed, and there behind the door is where i shoot all my unborn babies into the carpet. I turned around to look, just to see his mom standing there behind the door with a laundry basket.
So every man would have a gazillion strong army in heaven? The men would all play Totally Accurate Battle Simulator against each other but with babies.
